cant understand how to do stuff in the game !!!
The game looks cool and I want it to be fun .. but dang .. nothing is intuitive .. my fires and bonfires keep going out it says light them but cant find any way to light it ? I got a fugitive worker .. followed the tutorial gave her a work assignment and she just stands there.... sleeping seems real time boring .. you sit on the mat and time just ticks by .. no speed through sleep at night? The tutorial and notes are like reading a user manual ... am I really missing something simple or key?

You just put fuel in the fire. Box in the upper right hand side.
You do get xp when you rest.

it actually is pretty intuitive. the problem is games have, among other things. made us dumber. for instance the fire is likely going out when its raining? u have to have a roof over it. it mostly makes sense if u have played other survival games like valhiem, conan or myth of empires. sleep is designed for u to stand up and get a drink or something. also as u progress u will get more comfort and sleep goes alot faster. around 25 u get a bath and u can "sleep" in the bath too while doing other things. english is not its first language, the game

Also, different workbenches require different fuels. Once you get to crafting Bronze, you need charcoal or coal from the Kiln to craft weapons and there is one workbench that requires energy crystals.

As far as the follower doing nothing, it depends on the job. If they don't have a tool, then they can't harvest resources and if the workbench doesn't have resources like logs, then the follower can't craft planks.

Fires (campfire, bonfires, etc.) get put out by rain, so they need to be indoors, or at least covered (though indoors helps protect them for when your base starts getting attacked.)

Don't waste time with a bed, use the equivalent mats/chairs, they have the same comfort level, give the same bonuses, but don't lock you to an annoying screen so you can switch to another character to run around doing stuff.

Stop using the starter character as soon as possible, use the Vagabond then captured characters instead as they have better bonuses and higher skill caps.

When repairing your mask, I recommend your first priority being to do the repairs that increase the limit of tribe members (currently caps at 20.)

Create storage chests (I recommend skipping straight to wooden chests), at least twelve of them, then set each one to a specific type. this way gatherers and crafters will store them in a somewhat organized way to make things easier when you want to do a quick one-off craft.

Work assignments can be wonky sometimes, but early on they usually do acceptably well if assigned to a station, assigned to gather resources relevant to that station, and given one thing to build an unlimited quantity of (like planks, handles, thick rope, etc.) that you know you're going to use a lot of.

Whichever character has the highest skill cap for tool crafting set to craft a large pool of each of the tools so the others can grab those when their current one breaks (this mechanic needs some more polish in-game so they reliably deposit their broken tools in a chest then another working the repair bench can fix them...this doesn't seem to work currently at all.)

This should help get your rolling...don't worry about following the tutorial steps as soon as they come up, quite a few expect you to do a lot of development on your own before you're ready for that particular step.

This has the same mechanics as most other survival games. However the number of options are a magnitude more then most other games. So i understand if you miss some mechanics and figure them out later on. But the bonfire is a core mechanic that works about the same as in other games like Valheim. One of the things i like is you can setup your boxes and workers to do everything as you wish by setting up tasks for workers (even scheduled repreating tasks) and filters on boxes so you get full automation for your base. You can also lock items in your inventory so when you quick drop stuff in boxes with filters (G) that you never drop the locked items in a box. If you want to use all mechanics in this game speedrunning it is impossible because of the many things you have to setup. I expect to take a pretty long time for a complete playtrough at challenging setttings. I changed the time for fuel in the bonfire on my private server because of the decay concern (i do not play every day). Now i know with good managing workers and boxes this is not needed at all. Workers even keep working when no players are in the server. Figured that out because for a server without players online it consumes absurd amount of CPU.

The bonfires need to be covered. The rain can actually extinguish them.

Ok, Ok....to all you smarmy twits not helping, start helping or stop posting smarmy-twit level responses. Bra vi to those posting helpful tips.
Subby, keep those questions coming as you are helping the game develop into the greatness it most definitely has the potential to reach.
