npc repair GEAR???
so quick search didnt pop anything up. but i just noticed my npcs are not repairing their work tools. one had like 20? near full inventory of axes. i have the benches loaded up and i also have a repair bench, also loaded up. is there something i can do to tell them to repair tehir tools every day? or even some longer method? like dump used tools in box, npcs picks up tools in this box and brings them back to repair bench, repairs then returns them back to in this case tools box for the next job to start and get picked up???

I've been tinkering with it and I think you have to have a guy managing the repair bench. Mark a chest for gear drop off, tribe should drop broken gear in a chest and the repairman should grab them, repair them and drop them off. I think this might work, was mulling this over in bed last night.

this didnt seem to work for me. I assigned them to depost tools into the repair bench. they do not seem to deposit broken items into it. I specified the specific tool they were using such as stone axe or scythe.

As for me, I have to manually take their gear and manually drop it in the repair bench, then hit <space> to mark it for actual repair. THEN the guy comes along and does it. I do not see them dropping broken stuff in a storage box, and they do not (so far) seem to take it out and do it automatically. So, mark this on the to-do list.

There's an option in the task manager when doing wild harvests to "discard" broken tools, but so far I have yet to see what it does. Do they put them in a box, or simply drop them at their feet?

ya i dont know if the devs did this to limit full automation of an afk base. cause whats the point of decay if a base can actually care for itself. u know. or something else. but the discard option seems they just drop it on the ground where they are. kind of a let down. hope we can get something like this added. thats alot of micro managing early game

Tell them to drop brolen gear and have a chest marked for tools with replacements insode, they will grab a new tool when theirs is broken. Just keep the chest stocked and youll be fine.

I agree they should at least use the "repair bench". Maybe this will get implemented one day.

They do pay attention to us.

I keep a tool box for spares, and they do come to pick up new tools. The option to drop broken stuff (in the tasks screen for harvesting) only seems to drop things at their feet, but this is undesirable for me, especially if the item is valuable, like if it's bone or bronze, I would NOT want to lose it so quickly, regardless of the fact I might have tons of bones to make new ones with.

To automatically put the broken tool BACK in the box at the same time as taking the new one out would be fine, and it's essentially swapping one-for-one in the storage slot. Then to have the guy on the repair station automatically check for anything that needs repair to simply do it. After all, why would something be in a BOX, rather than on the PERSON, if it's not otherwise up for repair? Logical.

"Fully automated production line."

"Workers cannot fix their tools."

Luckily Henry Ford figured this one out a hundred years ago. Maybe the devs will one day.
