There's an option in the task manager when doing wild harvests to "discard" broken tools, but so far I have yet to see what it does. Do they put them in a box, or simply drop them at their feet?
They do pay attention to us.
To automatically put the broken tool BACK in the box at the same time as taking the new one out would be fine, and it's essentially swapping one-for-one in the storage slot. Then to have the guy on the repair station automatically check for anything that needs repair to simply do it. After all, why would something be in a BOX, rather than on the PERSON, if it's not otherwise up for repair? Logical.
"Workers cannot fix their tools."
Luckily Henry Ford figured this one out a hundred years ago. Maybe the devs will one day.
