My first Ostrich is legendary. It says 104. something movement speed. I don't have another one yet.
I had a legendary llama and """"replaced it"""" with a basic one. Yeah it's jumped on a rock in a slope twice and died...
Size difference : Huge
Weight : probably +-100-200.
I wouldn't bother too much getting the best possible legendary mount honestly.
Jaguar = high speed low weight
Alpaca = Higher weight but slower (early mount)
Llama = a mule for mining etc.
Ostrich = Wasteland mount
Snow leopard = winter mount.. Almost lost my Ostrich due to cold temperature...
Ostrich immune to falling.
Add mods to other animals saddles for immunization.
You need llama, slow like alpaca but can carry a lot of weight (800++ or so) and the only one able to carry 4 x captured animals or 1 x npc depending on the attachment) . Be careful of its weight when you have close to max load, a small fall = death.
Jaguar or Snow leopard (late game) for being number 1 in speed. Okayish load (250+ or 300+ for the snow leopard).
Ostrich mainly for the desert wasteland as it's radiation resistant. Relatively fast and can fly a bit and suffer much lesser fall damage. About 300+ load.
It varies a bit due to the quality of the mount, feed it with the best food to have good results from baby to adult form... For example my ostrich's weight limit is 520 while my llama carries a whopping 1200 or about 6 times what a person can carry and is only able to slow walk(again, fall=death)...
This is just the info I was looking for, thanks. Didn't realize different feeds could affect carry capacity. I just feed my alpaca various fruit. He doesn't seem interested in the alpaca feed in the trough in my base for some reason.
Anyhow, expect to loss at a point or another...
Stats are also different (poison resistance, heat, cold etc.)
Anyone got info about the best one for poison resist ?
Lost my Ostrich due to poison (kind of stupidly)... The resist to poison was better than jaguar but it's make me wonder what is better in this environnemnent.
Also Ostrich isn't completly immune to radiation. In an area with higher radiation, it's become problematic.
Havent tried if that makes a mount's no-go area doable (for poison it's not, as a poison proof is percentage based and not a flat amount like the other proofs).
I have 2 llamas.
One has a carrying weight of just over 800.
The other has 1400.
The difference is significant.
The first one is much smaller in size than the second one.
To be honest, I don't know the speed.
But nevertheless, I prefer the first one - it is miniature (slightly larger than an alpaca). The second is huge, like a camel.
Really good info. I didn't know there was that degree of variablility.
How many mods can you place on a single saddle?
I was thinking one mod per item but never tried adding more to other things like armor and weapons. Maybe I should experiment.

BTW, did anyone found a mod besides durability which works on ring and amulet? I think i read all but i dont want to give up hope :D
nice, thanks for info. I wanted to try it out but never did it :/.
The mods should be enough for the Cold reisst (taking damage at -31 C with my new old ostrich)
Could be enough for Medium radiation (or not sure the name aswell). I wasn't missing alot.
It's should help in some case for poison but not the Severe fog I encountered by falling into water.
And yeah white llama might be 800 weight (basic) and can get up to 1100+ with saddle and basket.
It's rare that yo uneed so much weight except for moving stuff from a base to another one.
Another one, with your experience do Ostrich egg level matters ? I took a lvl 38 or ?? and hatched a level 8 with it...
