Saber-toothed Predator Armor only unlocks for one person?

So my group and I killed the Berserk Saber-toothed Predator to get the armor unlock. However, only one of the three people involved unlocked the recipe. Is this intended? If so, what is it based on?
We were all present for the fight, all of us were inside the arena the time that the boss was defeated. If this is how it is supposed to work, that's pretty lame.

Who ever gets the kill shot, get the armour unlock. No one else gets it.

We had to take turns, we all got it down to like 3% health, and then let the person who still needs the unlock to get the kill shot. (This is for ALL boss armour unlocks)

Note, the boss does scale up a little, if there are more people (but it also drops more items)

Yes I would hope they change that because that is a horrible idea, remember game is EA doesnt mean we should keep everything in EA, hopefully they change that

Worst on the official servers, you see people trying to kill steal the last bit of damage (with a great bow) just to troll people.

Need to change to who every did 20% of the damage or something like that
