Scout / map reveal mission could be better.

The scout 30% thing is too tedious, especially with powerful weapons, he's dead before you can even count his HP. Instead, let us beat the scout 100% then have him submit, instead of die... and having to sit around waiting for a respawn... until you get it just right.

I've had this problem as well even unarmed when you crit accidentally they die before getting to 30%

Try throwing Stones (while using a shield) at them though or using a Tool they have low dmg & will be fine way to get to 30%

If you are strength focused, your fists is pretty deadly for early zones. But most of you are plenty deadly on private servers with special sauce settings in the early zones anyway.

I usually use butcher knife when I did not bring my blade focused warrior and avoided fists when I bring my hammer focused warrior. Only exception is the level 46+ zones.

yes, and it's even worse if you missed a lower level scout. i have to put the recruit on passive, park my mount away from the camp. carefully pull adds and then do the scout. it does seem that scouts have had HP added to compensate but most other games use the 100% and submit method....

You could use your brain, and a lower tier weapon. Or one that you aren't as proficient with. Or just whack them a few times with your skinning knife.

I used the special sauce settings + my brain and a lower level tool kinda like you and it worked perfect! Thanks for the advice!

Shield slams are nice to bring them below their threshold and if thats still too strong I go with a tool.

I always bring a fist weapon from the previous tier with me when capturing/scouting. One punch at a time to the torso gets the job done pretty reliably.

I feel like the scouts should be neutral and you either have to trade information with them or buy them off instead of hoping you don't kill them before getting E off. Faction on some of these tribes would actually be awesome. The ability to trade with certain tribes would make it more interesting.
