Craftsman question
So trying to find those rare 120+ craftsman I've lost count of how my I've recruited and let go is any one tribe better at crafting than others? I know higher level areas don't seem to make a difference.

Where did you find those

Wonder if it has to do with the type of Craftsman. A Master Craftsman might have a higher proficiency cap compared to a Novice Craftsman.

I believe the only advantage that higher level tribesmen have is that we don't have to worry about levelling them up for better traits.

I have 150-200 tamed tribesman, found 5 weaponsmith 120-125 and actually 4 armorsmiths 115-119, so zero 120 armorsmith, every other profession i have a tribesman 120

the armorsmith % is perhaps 0,1% or so very very rare
the sad thing is i have to craft steel armor in green/blue/purple for the highendgear sets, because i dont have a 120 armorsmith for yellow/red qualtiy after that amount of tribesmans

You can get yellow and red even without the 120 just takes many more tries, hence the looking for the 120+. I bounce around the different fortresses as they have more crafters to tame.

I prefer weapon/armorsmith with the craft-higher-quali perk over 120 caps. Much easier to find and good through all tiers. Both would be nice tho, but for what benefit should i grind those recruits? Perk is fine enough to get a good red-ratio on crafting and a few more skillpoints/next capstone for some more durability? nah thanks. Also, the difference per rarity tier is roughly 5% statwise. Sure i like having best possible gear too, but the content is like 90% skills+brains and 10% gearquali, so thinking like you NEED that red gear is just focussing on the wrong things :D

What? You need 120 skill to unlock the higher-quality perk for steel tier. That's why people want 120+.

You're talking about the 120 capstone to increase the quality of its tier. I talk about a character perk which increases the chance for higher quality on all tiers, which has nothing to do with skills/capstones.
Just hinting an other option to get decent gear easy enough without having to grind recruits 24/7.

Also, what ich kinda dislike about the quality-capstones is that they come far too late for that tier. You barely get xp for crafts of lower tier once you reached specific skilllevels, so to reasonable get to 120 you already have to craft tons of endgame tier to finally get the capstone which increases the quality of further crafts. But i guess thats ok for vanilla settings and not adjusted durability settings on private servers, as you always have to craft new gear because repairing drains max durability so fast.

Ahh, I see. I've never even seen that character perk yet, it must be pretty rare.

I dont "feel" that it's rare, i found it quite often, but as with everyone here who talks about rarity: my samplesize and everyone's else is far too small to make a reasonable statement on perk-rarity.
You might not have seen it because you probably focussed on sorting out max-skill first on your craftsman-recruits? =) It's also craftsman-exclusive iirc.

Imho the character rarity just determines base-stats (hp def stam etc). At least that does it a noticeable amount. If it increases skillcaps too I failed to notice too.

No, I always read all the traits first before I even look at max skill levels on all types of tribesmen, so it can't be that. I just haven't run across it at all. RNG is a ♥♥♥♥♥.

Good to know, thanks. I'll have to spend some more time in their fortress soon.
