AI tribes raiding each other?

Playing solo. Was making my first attempt at the Barbarian Barracks, and was about halfway through, making my way from the east gate. As I got towards the center, I could see a bunch of people fighting at the west gate, then a bunch of Fang tribe members poured into the barracks. Unfortunately, they all went over to the "captive" side of the base, which I had already cleared, so I had to do it again. Then after that, a bunch of dogs showed up. I was pretty well depleted at that point, so had to nope out and try again later.

Was that a scripted event, or do tribes and animals attack AI bases? I know they can attack your own base, though I've yet to have it happen, but I didn't think they'd go after each other.

Yeah, this happens. I was picking off tribesmen 1 by 1 to isolate one I wanted to train when a herd of boar suddenly runs up the path to their base to attack. Because he was the only guard left I had to rush in to save him. It would have been a real tragedy if he died, he's a weapon master with the rapid fire trait.

I had a dozen or two plunderers raid the lvl50 flint tribe fortress in the wetlands while i was peacefully recruiting there :D I laughed and watched the show.
