Well, kind of sad now...
OK, so.... single player. Pretty casual settings.
Made my way into steel gear (not legendary - yet, but steel)
Fought the berserker sabertooth boss. Didn't have a "lot" of trouble with it. Was very doable.

So, thought I'd go for the Doom sabertooth. Uhg....
I've been trying this guy for almost 2 hours now, not even getting anywhere close.
I've adjusted the damage settings all the way to max casual. Doesn't help.

Basically, when it roars, I take massive damage, go stun lock, he pounces me and shreds me... I bleed out. Every - time.

Now, this thing is permanently summoned, and I have no way to kill it.

I really did want the doom set to put steel in (once I get legendary), but I there's just no way I'm ever going to beat this thing.
I'm not the best when it comes to intense combat (hence why I use more casual settings), but thought I'd have a chance...

Anyhow, is this thing PERMANENTLY summoned? Or will it ever despawn? Not that it matters, really...

Maybe when I get full legendary enhanced steel I could give it a go again? Dunno...

Just kind of sad this old man couldn't beat this thing on the most easiest kiddo settings. :(

Anyone able to solo the Doom kitty?

There are a lot of traits in the game and they are not all are equal. Almost all of my warriors are weapon masters, for example. Anyone who is a companion gets the 60% damage reduction. Then there are talents like damage pen, a stackable crit/speed buff, life steal, etc. Get the right ones of these and it really helps.

As for sabertooth, I have only fought the 1st one but he was super easy with a great bow. He never even lays a paw on me. The bow keeps me well out of roar range, and a headshot with a great bow stuns him. Not sure how the Doom Sabertooth is different but it might be worth a try.
Thanks stark. Not going to give up. I'll circle back to this guy once I've sorted out a couple really good warriors to use.

As for stun locking him with headshots, yes, this works on the first two tiers.
First tier sabertooth is kind of faceroll in this.
Second tier - wasn't that hard either.

Third tier. You "can" stun him with a head shot, but he snaps out of it fast and comes at you. You CAN'T keep it stunned.. so that strategy doesn't really work.

The only way I can see it working, it to continually circle and dodge, and jump in to put a bleed on him.

The BIG problem I have, is the roar. Seems to have NO DISTANCE you can escape it. It stuns you with a TON of damage, and then he jumps you and chews you up.

I am a little puzzled at your comment, "It is soloable but not easily so"
And then, "I have only fought the 1st one"
??

lol, give the Doom kitty a go yourself, and then comment that it's soloable! :p

I meant the game is soloable in general, but...

Well, I just did the 2nd one, took me just over a minute. (server settings 1x damage outgoing, .9x damage incoming, everything else is 'hard' default), without bringing a companion and with Iron gear a mix of green to purple, and only some mods.

I can't do the 3rd one yet because I am only at Awareness 42. But I will probably bring a companion set to "Ranged" when I do. And wear steel gear, obviously.

Of course my character is somewhat of a beast. Level 42 Red. +8% Crit from Tribe. Weapon Master. Surprise Attack (Chance to count as weak spot) Crave for Blood (Chance to heal from damage done) and Getting Braver (Chance to add a stacking buff to Crit chance, crit damage, and move speed) And +9% to ranged attack.

Shot him in the head with a great bow then just pummeled his head with the gauntlets while he was stunned. I would like to say it was all skill but other than just dodging and shooting his rather large head, I just held down the left click to spam punches as his health bled away.

I imagine the 3rd is quite a bit harder but on casual difficulty you do twice as much damage and take 1/3 as much. So I imagine it is very much doable. Don't overlook food buffs. The jam that gives +10% move speed is VERY good for bosses. And the +20 defense food is good too.

Nice job stark! Yea, I have skill issues. :( Can't help it. Been gaming for 35ish years now, so I suspect I is what I is. LOL!
I've never been an agile player of any sort... and in my 60's now, even less so. I do enjoy a bit of adrenaline, but it doesn't help me. My old fingers just can't manage to move me fast enough.

I watched KiahOnFire solo the berserker on "Official" server. I don't have her skills.

I have not. I am going to finish (or at least try!!) the last two bosses today (bird and mammoth) on the first tier, just to finish them and unlock the mask perks.
Wish me luck on that! hah!

The game can be done solo. Its not easy, fighting is very dynamic and fast paced. You have got to use a combination of weapons for late game content, block and dodge both. Face tanking is just not an option for Solo. Use the right buffs for right fights. Use the right Village with right traits for the right zones, same for mask customisation and or mods on your weapons/armour etc. I cried a lot early on. Eventually got a hold of the mechanics. In Iron age. Dont find it hard. Settings on Normal with EXP and Drops buffed but combat at vanilla settings.

Can you dodge his pounce? Eyes turn red to give you like a 1.5-2 second indicator. If you can dodge that, you should be ok. The roar can be dodged easily enough. You have I-frames on rolls that seem very generous against his roar. It also seems to be conical in front of him, similar to the frog's poison breath attack and to some degree his tongue lash but I could be wrong about that. Get in, short burst damage, roll away. Regen stamina when out of distance and you can mix in shots with a bow when he circles or just in general. If you do get caught by the roar, there's not much you can do. Boost armor with mods, use torch of eternity mimicry. Might save you but cc in this game is insane. As much as I hate getting perfect block stun locked, especially while the enemy was already attacking, cc is the only thing that keeps Soulmask from being too easy. Without his roar cc, sabretooth isn't even a worthy mini-boss.

Bird is stupid easy shoot him outta the air with head shot pummel rinse and repeat. Mammoth on the hand is a horribly unbalanced nightmare.

I just fought this and although it might have been a glitch, dodge rolling appears to avoid the stunlock from the roar...

Yea, Zelendes posted a video on it. Was good to watch him do this! This guy is like, 10x better player than I am. Maybe 20x.

I am playing on casual. First time at Sabertooth I died. Second time I killed him. I continued to level and gear up until I was legendary bronze. I took a companion of approximately equal level and gear and attacked the second tier Sabertooth. We both died, but she died permanently. Lost another warrior on another attempt before I gave up.

I'm iron level now. Will reattempt but only with a saved tribesman at this point because I have a feeling it will end badly. I've learned a few things since my first attempt though. Mods, food, drink, some of the specials. I might have a chance.

Well, this game is not as hard as I thought first.
Once you learned the paterns of dangerous enemies, the game becomes very easy.
Stack the best food bonuses you have access to (the one giving +100% stamina regen is op af).
Later on, apply revelent modifiers to your armor (poison, radiations, heat or frost resist depending on what you are planing to do).

The harder part of the game is to actually get a fighter with decent stats & skills.

I find the bosses much harder in coop, stronger & far less predictable.

PS: If you struggle in combat, give a shot to the dual blades skill Whirlstep Slash & abuse dodge (dodging = invincibility).

TO NOT GET STUNNED BY THE ROAR GET A TRIBESMAN WITH STEEL BODY PERK THAT AVOIDS STUN IF YOUR OVER 50 PERCENT RESIL

Can anyone confirm that the the Saber roars only when you put a DOT (bleed/poison) on it?
Or does it also roar regardless sometimes?

As I'm trying to do the doom one and it's not going well ..

Shoot him in the face with great bow until he gets stunned, then run in with dual swords jump attack once and then spam F in his face which should re-stun him. Dodge roll whenever he jumps at you. easy peasy.

I have to agree, solo on official PvE isn't going to go anywhere. Northern Rainforest, Mangrove, River Valley, Rift Valley is purposed for 16-25 level, which are pre-bronze armour, under 25. They all have Alligators, Anacondas and level 22 Jaguars, these are all too deadly for 20-25 level (20 to under 25).

Developers says, git-guda, "study moves", dodge, etc, but the reality is if these beasts gets one single hit on you, you're stun and it's gameover.

Only 12 days in and I'm thinking the game is not casual enough to PvE solo, not on official server anyway. Like what the frak level do I have to be to enter centre map? I'm asking myself, 'is it worth it?'

Nope, the game for clans only.
Do you ever block? How are they getting stuns on you man.
