Soul mask for a solo player worth it?
Maybe I want to buy this game, because I like survival games and it seems an interesting game. However, I will be playing solo. Is it worth it playing solo? And can the difficulty be set to ' easy' or something like that? How much content is there for a solo player?

I've been playing solo and have been enjoying the game. There are all the usual slider adjustments for xp, resource respawn, harvesting yield, etc. So you can easily tailor the settings to fit your solo play. Also, you can recruit NPCs to help you automate your base or follow you as you explore. Sadly, my companions tend to die pretty easily when fighting groups, but so far I haven't gotten too far down the technology tree. Might be I just need to equip them with better gear.

So far it's been a great game for solo play. There's easily 30+ hours of playtime for solo

Absolutely. I play solo most of the time, and so far they've made it fairly adjustable to a solo experience.

I always play survival games solo and they're all fine to me. Don't even think about soloing on a PvP server though as you will inevitably be ripped to shreds during raid time.

You may want to shift some sliders, but it works fine solo. I would just reccomend starting vanilla and then slowly adjust from there for the parts of the game you feel like it doesn't fit.

I play solo and it's really good. Only down side i see is that after bronze when you about to get Iron you kinda have no tech points left and there is still a lot to unlock.
With other people you just specialize more and that's it.
For example i still can't build stone base bc i have no tech points for that even though i couple levels higher. But if i didn't learn bronze gear and weapons i would be able to build stone base.

Thanks for all the replies! Sounds good! Except for one thing pointed out in the previous post. Does the lack of tech points later in the game lead to getting in a road block and not being able to progress any further?

55 hours in, I both love and hate the game. The sliders is the way to go, you don't necesarily need to change the damage done / taken but the exp and durability sliders does need some love. 0.2 durability feels about right, that means one purple bronze weapon will last about one barrack run. Expect to permanently lose your best tribals seeing as the main character is trash though, and unlocking the saving stone is hidden behind a difficulty spike that you cannot do with your main unless you grind for iron.

To avoid ragequitting from losing the pawn you used 20+ hours to train, do a backup once in a while, im 55 hours in, and im still not even close to getting back what i lost. Now I am just farming level 40+ masters in hope of getting a single one with close to the same traits and masteries ..

Mhh.. at least the sabertooth is doable solo with your main char. the main question here is how fast you are at learning the pattern. After my recent experience with a NPC, spear + bow should work fine. I know many people like the double blades, but for the fight I think the extra range makes up for the dps loss.

For the weapon durability issue: there are weapon mods that reduce the durability loss, which already helps. What I also do is using the bronze greatbow alot, so I can snipe out some of the enemies with just a few shots before I have to go into melee. that, at least felt, makes my main weapon last a lot longer.

If you like really long game as i am you can play default value but be ready for a lot and a lot of hours, not due to grind but due to difficulty at least for me. Otherwise just play with slider there are some recommandations for solo players.

NB : i don't understand why this game doesnt have very positive review, i think it is the almost perfect survival game for me and challenging.

People don't like the idea of the MC becoming useless and you're more or less forced to play on the captured npcs later on. Once you can respawn them it's becoming better (especially on a private server with perfect respawn enabled), but until there you've got a road to go.

This is possibly my biggest issue with the game... you farm for tribal recruits like they're random loot drops instead of time invested in a recruit being rewarded with real improvement. I understand they don't want you to just max out everything on one character and I am fine with that, but the implementation of random caps and quality levels that cannot be changed by effort encourages this loot-farming view of tribals. If you look at other games with random recruits, they implemented it better where effort can improve the recruit (Honey, I Joined a Cult or Darkest Dungeon, for example).

I'm solo only. I would hate to play this with people.

Tired of mmo / coop games crashing. Not reflected on Soulmask personally just on all mmo / coop games lately. There's something wrong with servers and the internet that didn't used to be there. They should be improving over time but they are getting worse. Everyone argues against my theory says it's the game dev faults and crap game etc etc but I don't believe it. I really think something is weird wrong with servers and internet itself. Maybe inflation or larger irl pop idk. But I'm done with online. I don't think servers will ever be what they once were. Someone has ruined them somehow. Btw, it all started when IP's began clocking back servers to low and medium speeds for monetary gains. That's when I noticed our games stopped working online. Greed killed mmorpgs. Everyone's greed.

For single player its fine, lots of things to do but forget about pvp as you will be fighting against teams of 6 and the game is grindy enough, raiding is also easy.

Yes, there is quite a few hours for solo, but what they might not say, is the game has like 500 hours of content already. So you are effectively locked out of most of the game content. There are apparently ways to progress solo, but it is much more difficult for the most part, from what I've read.

To be honest, I've played the 30 hours mentioned, and I'm starting to hit the wall. I expect to find ways around most of the solo gotchas, but I expect to get stuck progressing at some point.
