Logging yard
Hey,

can someone tell me what's the advantage of building logging yards and the other 2 collection buildings?
maybe I'm missing something but for me it looks like it just allows me to free up marks on the map, if I don't want them to work directly around the bonfire.

You need them to assign tribesmen to do that type of work

It lets you filter what gets collected. If you are tired of loggers filling up with branches you can tell them to only take logs. Or only stone an no flint. Fibre and vines but no thatch etc.

It also has a larger range (60m as opposed to the task assignments with 30m). So, be aware of any bad things in the area outside your immediate "safe zone".

Do you still need to constantly repair their tools?

afaik not. the only alternative would be to check the box that the tools get destroyed once they are done, then set up a cron job that produces some tools every hour or something like that.

How? Yesterday I built the yard. I can’t find and set to log only premium hardwood.

Same issue, I built the Collection Yard and there's no way to filter what they harvest. Very disappointed - it seems basically useless?

Edit: Ok it's after you assign a person to work it, when you go into their 'work settings' you can edit what they harvest. No setting on the yard itself, the setting is in work settings of the person you assign as the caretaker.

I think the answer is the same as everything else, as they're still using them.

Think of this as an alternative to the task function to harvest random stuff. The only difference is you can select what to harvest. But the tools are the same to do it with.

I think i would also like to point out, at least from my experience in the demo, the goods are apparently stored inside the structure, not whatever box you normally use for it. I don't know if it's still this way, but watch for it. However, I think any crafters will pull from it.
