I wonder if the tech points gained will become an option you can modify, if it isn't already.
One thing tho... If we should have all available tech at a certain level, why bother having "points" at all? Why not just have the relevant tech unlock immediately.
+1
You should have to work for the tech points. If you had a mechanic that ensured that you could achieve all technologies in one game, there would be no problem here. The fact that you should be able to cheat your way to the tech points would only be a stopgap solution in my opinion.
On the log in screen, 2nd down from the top.
It says "Solo/Friends" .... Solo. Literally on the Game Menu.
u can learn everything, there are PLENTY of guides that show u where to find tech points, if u are unable to use google or something if u cant find it for ur self I dont know dude
Oh! If that's the case, then I'm taking part in a discussion that seems completely unnecessary... embarrassing... lol
See that is a helpful question I'd love to find the slider for. I for one would love to find such a slider. This thread, not the quote, is a valid point of why I would want to play off-line. There there are no people dropping in with nothing useful to say, but comfortable leaving unhelpful remarks then leaving.
If I met friends online or could just take my tribe and server hop to green pastures that would be a different story.
The largest portion of this thread is perhaps a troll starting a fire and sitting back to laugh. I'll echo the original posts question: Is there a way to adjust how many tech points you can get as you level up?
So, After more play. No, not that I can see. Not to say this will not come as there are a lot of advanced settings so you can set your server up how you like. They will most likely add this somehow.
Tech points come from a few places, e.g. "Awareness Strength" from just fighting mobs and resource collecting. this is an EXP so you gain tech points as you level it. You can also set this to a higher multiplier in Advanced Settings so you level up quicker. As this game is more about the gear for survival, being a higher level character does not help as much as you would think. You could for example increase the EXP you get so that you level faster and get points sooner but at the same time make mobs hit a little harder to offset your level speed.
I guess its finding that balance you like. And you can change the advanced settings as much as you like within the same game world. You don;t have to start a new world.
You can also get extra tech points from Ancient Tablets found in the zones, there are 17 I think, and they give 1 or 2 points each. I have read there are enough to get all the tech skills if you want everything but I can not confirm this myself.
You can also unlearn some tech skills once you have progressed beyond their usefulness, first one being free to use.
Also, I often have more tech points than I can manage while levelling up from starter zones. It doesn't feel limiting to me yet. Don't bother with farming early on, you can't use it until you get the granary much later. I wasted points here.
Right on the steam page, where people review all the tags to see if they want to buy a game it says:
Singleplayer
Seems it might not be complete enough for single player play though. Hopefully a patch will come along soon to fix that.
I've yet to see one of these Ancient Tablets. Or if I did see one, I had no idea it was anything useful. Looking at the wiki picture, I suspect I've been near one (I am assuming they are at the Ancient Ruins), but missed interacting with it.
