Soulmask
Tech Points = Needs help. Pls
Devs please review Tech Point accumulation. This area needs help badly. If you play with a bunch of people you can "specialise" so your Tribe will have access to most things at LVL as you progress.

If you Solo its broken. You cant get Techs at your awareness levels which you must have to progress. You pretty much have to pick a few of the trees and give up on them and hope down the road you can catch up - which you cant. This means as you capture more Tribesman you will not be able to have some of the necessary Tech progression to keep up. Either you give up on farming, Animal husbandry or building certain things.

Please fix this, either make the tablets give meaningful amount of points or increase point gain per lvl.

I also think that you should be able to adjust the tech points in your solo game to suit your preferences. I also don't understand why this is a problem for anyone, as it only affects my own solo game. Furthermore, I like Soulmask and nobody should tell me how to play my solo game! Live and let live. :sf3_raze:
You can make a private server and play by yourself. If you do that, you don't get enough tech points for sure.

I wonder if the tech points gained will become an option you can modify, if it isn't already.

One thing tho... If we should have all available tech at a certain level, why bother having "points" at all? Why not just have the relevant tech unlock immediately.

Dont confuse Single Player vs Solo Player. Single player is what you are referring to. Individuals playing on a server by themselves grieving tribes and doing the gorilla warfare in PvP. Essentially stealth gankers.

Solo play is me on my own map by my self. Not on a server. Before you air personal grievances on a thread understand the thread.

No, it’s the other way around.
Single Player is a mode. As opposed to another mode, Multiplayer. In SP mode you indeed play on your own map, and no one else is allowed to join.
Solo means you play by yourself in either SP or MP. It’s not an official mode, it’s your playstyle preference.
This game is advertised as both Single Player and Multiplayer so you are right, it must be balanced for both modes (but NOT for playing Solo on a MMO server).

+1

You should have to work for the tech points. If you had a mechanic that ensured that you could achieve all technologies in one game, there would be no problem here. The fact that you should be able to cheat your way to the tech points would only be a stopgap solution in my opinion.

That is the issue in my view. Whats the point of having to dance back and forth with respecs to keep getting what is necessary tech progression. For Multiplayer it forces specialisation between Tribes members. Fine. For solo its a painful game mechanic that needs to have alternative options. Make me grind a dungeon repeatedly to get more Tech Points. Meaning the Tablets. However those need to give more points than 1.

Why do people keep trying to play this game solo? It's not a solo game.

On the log in screen, 2nd down from the top.

It says "Solo/Friends" .... Solo. Literally on the Game Menu.

Oh! If that's the case, then I'm taking part in a discussion that seems completely unnecessary... embarrassing... lol

Oh I didnt. I just answered the question and while you are correct you do have to keep in mind that Singleplayer is still playing solo and that there is no difference gameplay wise between playing solo on a server or singleplayer regarding tech points. So I dont quite get that remark about understanding the thread tbh...

If playing solo, can't you adjust the tech point progression in Advanced Settings? Or allow you to get them sooner via EXP multipliers?

See that is a helpful question I'd love to find the slider for. I for one would love to find such a slider. This thread, not the quote, is a valid point of why I would want to play off-line. There there are no people dropping in with nothing useful to say, but comfortable leaving unhelpful remarks then leaving.

If I met friends online or could just take my tribe and server hop to green pastures that would be a different story.

The largest portion of this thread is perhaps a troll starting a fire and sitting back to laugh. I'll echo the original posts question: Is there a way to adjust how many tech points you can get as you level up?

So, After more play. No, not that I can see. Not to say this will not come as there are a lot of advanced settings so you can set your server up how you like. They will most likely add this somehow.

Tech points come from a few places, e.g. "Awareness Strength" from just fighting mobs and resource collecting. this is an EXP so you gain tech points as you level it. You can also set this to a higher multiplier in Advanced Settings so you level up quicker. As this game is more about the gear for survival, being a higher level character does not help as much as you would think. You could for example increase the EXP you get so that you level faster and get points sooner but at the same time make mobs hit a little harder to offset your level speed.

I guess its finding that balance you like. And you can change the advanced settings as much as you like within the same game world. You don;t have to start a new world.

You can also get extra tech points from Ancient Tablets found in the zones, there are 17 I think, and they give 1 or 2 points each. I have read there are enough to get all the tech skills if you want everything but I can not confirm this myself.

You can also unlearn some tech skills once you have progressed beyond their usefulness, first one being free to use.

Also, I often have more tech points than I can manage while levelling up from starter zones. It doesn't feel limiting to me yet. Don't bother with farming early on, you can't use it until you get the granary much later. I wasted points here.

I've heard from some people who are farther in the game that there should be enough of those Ancient Tablets to unlock every single tech eventually, but of course you need to explore the entire map to collect them all first.
Thank you for the answer.

Why do people keep trying to play this game solo? It's not a solo game.

Right on the steam page, where people review all the tags to see if they want to buy a game it says:
Singleplayer

Seems it might not be complete enough for single player play though. Hopefully a patch will come along soon to fix that.

I've yet to see one of these Ancient Tablets. Or if I did see one, I had no idea it was anything useful. Looking at the wiki picture, I suspect I've been near one (I am assuming they are at the Ancient Ruins), but missed interacting with it.
There are 110 Ancient Tablets in the game. Plus 23 Divine Tablets
