Wooden Chest vs Small wooden chest

Is there currently any reason to use a wooden chest over 2 small wooden chests? 2 small wooden chests take up less room and have more storage. Is that a developer oversight or am I missing something?

The wooden chests you can upgrade to metal chest, which have even more storage space so in the end you can store more, I suppose.

Small wooden = 36 slots
wooden = 66 slots
Don't forget you can stack them on top of each other.

I can see it with the steel chest upgrade but prior to that doesn't seem worth it. The wooden chest takes up so much more room than the small wooden chest. Way more than double the space and it's not even double the inventory space so doesn't seem worth it to me.

Well it's going to be that sized storage chest until you get to Steel Age and unlock the Steel Storage Cabinet. Once you do so the shape of the storage changes. So you may as well get used to the size. You must be on PvP if you're worried about buildings a small blueprint, otherwise what's the worry?

When I try upgrading the strawchest to small wooden chest it shows 0 and tells me i dont have the materials. But if i look at my crafting menu, i do have all the materials in my inventory for it and i can craft it.. any ideas what Im doing wrong?

You need to make the new chest and have it in your inventory to upgrade.
