Better don't even start it without granary at level 25 and putting thrall on it. It's pure insanity to manually farm anything in this game.
And or goto flint tribe barracks locations and steal their randomly grown crops every day.
Just a tip those farmlands can be placed on top of a foundation so you can see them better without worrying about dealing with grass and what not.

If you place floors on top of your roof, you can place the garden beds on top of your house.
None they stop growing.
