Bow viable?
Wondering if the Bow is any good, or if I should respec(can you respec?) It feels like the damage it shows so far is falling under vs others.

This! I also got blessed with a 120 bow with divine power triple shot!

It allows you to shoot three arrows damn near constantly. The downside obviously is ammo and running out of ingots faster than just using melee.

Iron is where bow really starts to shine. You get access to 4 different bows.

Iron Rapid Bow - This has zero draw hold, it will auto fire once max string tension, this is for bow close range combat. You'll feel like Legolas.

Iron Bow - Same as all the others

Iron Longbow - Same as all the others

Iron Greatbow - This has the long draw time at a full 3 seconds IIRC. Pairing this with Big Iron Arrows. I can sit outside a Barbarian camp and snipe barbarians for almost 4,000 damage. (Note: We are playing co-op with a 4x damage multiplier so prob roughly 1000 damage on a default server)

I fought the lvl 25 sabertooth with the greatbow. Bronze, yellow, big bone arrows. Managed to get 1.3k headshots with my main char (and therefore bow capped on 50).

So if you want to snipe out from afar, the greatbow is amazing. just make sure you've got a backup weapon in case your victim survives the first 1-2 shots and starts closing in.

I have not yet accumulated so much iron to craft bows and arrows, so I want to ask you to compare the damage from your bows with the damage from throwing a spear of the same type and material. Yes, I understand that the bow will shoot more often, I’m just interested in whether the damage values are competitive.

The bow is good if you use it a lot and raise your bow skills, also the bow quality matters a lot and I always craft weapons over and over until I get a legendary (red tier 5) because that is the highest damage tier. Your arrows matter as well, wood is the weakest and stone is ok but I am using bone arrows with a legendary beast bone longbow and I can kill most enemies in 1 shot. If you pick the far right mask at character creation it adds to your range damage and gives you the ability to poison arrows.

You can also get a crafting bench early that lets you make weapon and armor mods / enhancements so you can add damage mods to your bow and mod your armor so you take less damage. Wearing beast leather armor modded to reduce incoming damage with a modded bow on an npc with 120 bow skill makes you a killing machine and fights are over quick.

I have the rich mask, and from the masks ability it sounds like when you add poison to the arrows and then shoot you get the bonus, not that it just gives a passive poison, I wish.

The bronze big bow with big bronze arrows can hit around 600-1400 its slow and unwieldy in close combat but amazing for engaging.

I think the intent is to have multiple weapons and options (as others have said). Even if you are not bow specced, you should still have one for poking, kiting, and at times hitting a switch. Combat itself in this game is shoddy (that’s me being generous) but the setup leading up to combat (like multiple food buffs and requiring a small arsenal) is well executed.

bow are very good...well its situational..

sniping with great bow could 1 hit enemy but 3-3,5s time to max dmge..

also for monster / boss is good too, first attack using great bow at their head...if you are afraid to get close, use regular / rapid bow to their head..after a few shot it can stun the boss then u switch to melee to do your painful combo...

i play on hard diff, where i deal 0,9x damage and received 1.2x damage and bow are still very important, especialy if you can get 120 proficiency (86% bow damage multiplier)

I got a skill just for that, with the bow out, he kicks the enemy and fires an arrow at them. As a last resort Bow skill.

Sorry I didn't subscribe to this one :( I went to the sabertooth boss and it looks like I'm hitting 1800 normal and about 2500 crits with a steel spear throw. I'm hitting 18k to 36k with a steel bow with big steel arrows.

If I adjust that down from 4x to 1x....you are looking at about 430ish normal and 620ish crits with a steel spear, and 4500 normal and 9000ish crits with a greatbow.

The great bow destroys everything except machines and knocks the enemy down. It stuns bosses
