Best starter base locations, anyone?
Just started playing, and I'm having a hard time finding flat, open spaces that are good for building bases around. I'm also not sure what I should be looking for in a base location. Anyone find any ideal locations they can share? ; 3;?

noob territory (lvl 4 boars around), a good amount of flat space and water is also nearby.
should be good enough for your first hours.

the best place, is there even a best place? you will need more then one, the map is way to big to have only one base. "ofc that's my opinions"

There's a place near a ruin( with insane tapirs/meat and bones..) next to small lake(clay galore). Build a base just south of that ruin. It's close to the fog and one of the major tribe. Slight slope but big enough for a starter base.

As for those really flat areas, is far from water/fish/etc, it's more for your 2nd base as you can build a well, fish ponds, farms, etc to supplement. Just look at the map and you see a larger patch of one color. E.g just slightly west of the tribe with the baby alpaca...

And thank you guys for your advice, I really appreciate you all! Still open to other location ideas, of course. <3

That's why the word 'starter' is included in the title. Starter implies that the base is just to start with, not the sole, ultimate base to have/use. It's just a good spot to BEGIN playing the game in. Not sure where you got the idea that I thought only 1 base was required, but okay?

Ya, I'm assuming you mean the east side of the large lake where the river flows into it. It's a nice hill, not flat so requires a lot of foundations, but overall I find it simply the best place to start. It has a nearby outcast camp/ruins to get early game tribesman, it has easy access to clay, it's situated at the corner of all three rainforest sections so easy enough to get anywhere you need to at the start, has lots of access to animals as well. It can be a little bit of a pain with AI pathing however as they are not great with slopes and the cliff edges can really throw them for a loop.

I went with the Beach Bob style and build my base on a sand beach near the Flint Tribes salt mine, Lots of flat land and no enemies. There is still plenty of trees and bushes for my tribe members to harvest.
The map is so big that you must be willing to travel anyway, so I don't think it really matters where you build, but I prefer building somewhere away from annoying wildlife.

I found the place! It's honestly perfect, I've only been attacked by a dog once; it was too dumb to hop up onto the foundation, though. Haha! Thank you for your advice, this place really is a good one to start with. I built on a somewhat flatter area, next to the outcast camp, and it's got plenty of starting resources without all the annoying, attacking animals. ❤️ I'll grab an SS to show people exactly where, once I get online, JIC other people are asking the same question. Thank you so much for your help!

Oh, there's a salt mine?! Where?? I need to start collecting more resources/building smaller bases. 😭❤️
