This is the part that breaks this for me as well. I'm A-OK with the concept of being the mask and the tribesmen being my followers or whatever, but the fact that my initial tribesman just chills there when I swap, and isn't able to be put to work, is a little annoying, and essentially forces me to swap back to them when I'm at the village, otherwise we're a person down.
I really dont find fancy and fun to play some random characters because i found nice quality one.
If that was intention it should be clear from level one and you should be like ghost mask that take over control over random people and you can play as them instead of your main character.
Like its a key part and feature of the game lol. It like someone complaining "you guys are forcing me to leave the starter zone how dare you! I spent hours on this base I don't want to make a new one!" Except even if you go threw every single custimazation of sacrafice pawn it takes 5 minutes lol
Then what is the point of gimping the main character If all the tribe mates are immortal? Why does the main character get left out to sit on the ground like a vegetable? Your PC is a member of the tribe just like all those they recruited. This is just a dumb system forcing us to use characters we really dgaf about, not as much as our PC. Why even have a character creator? I don't think gimping the PC and forcing you to play the red headed step child is driving home the whole mask lore. They tried something different, I applaud them for that, but it sucks.
They need to give the PC the same opportunity. if you enjoy playing as a rando then play them, but this is not as advertised "play it your way".
You can save tribemates and respawn them if they die, you can also edit their appearances.
So far I have only seen npcs from ancient bases wear bronze and such. Maybe the main character is the scholar and not the warrior.
Personally I like that idea, the mask granting you persuasive favors, and enlightened knowledge. Making it possible to fabricate advanced weaponry otherwise forgotten.
That said there are already peeps working on getting around this and being able to increase the skill cap for your main character.
