Is this game planning to have workshop / mods?
And how far is the game from implementing this?

Hm... "... is also under consideration" sounds more like a big maybe rather than a confirmation for it.

Looks like they needed to cash in on their work before they could implement it. They likely won't have any new followers once they leave the trending list without a Workshop either. This kinda thing can really cement a title in place while the map gets worked on.

This is a thing games like this need at the beginning of their life cycle not on end of the list of things coming it's not that hard, this game could really use QOL mods like actually crafting from a chest.

it really doesn't need crafting from chests you have your thralls that will transport the needed mats from a chest to station for what ever you are queuing up to make and eve craft them for you ,just set it and forget it

The hell it is its you must be new to EA lol This is kind of thing that pisses off people like you the most. When update hits, then a hotfix, then another hotfix and each one breaks all your mods, and you got 1-6 days per update for modders to fix them you be singing a complete diffrent tune lol

And crafting from chests is damn near the most pointless mod I can ever think of just put your boxes and work area closer to geterh think ♥♥♥♥ threw they fetch it already when they craft unless you really suck at logistics its like extra 2-6 seconds sigh. Like in this game its damn near pointless as I can que up work orders up to 999 and they craft while I am offline out of base what ever lol Plus they get better caps there for better production times, and bonus then you can do lol

Also mod support isn't as easy as toggling a box sigh. Its why many do it later in production, that and again want see people rage watch them fix the EA while mod uses are playing you see it every single patch "hot fix broke my game!" Then people go "mods broke your game" and they complain that some how they got fix the game but not break the mods lol

agreed we wont even get a wiff of mod support till closer to a full release and in many cases a patch or 2 after full release ,now im sure someone will start making some mods pretty soon but they will be iffy at best as hotfixes will constantly break them without have the toolkit for mods yet

This comment did not age well... full mod support (probably one of the most diverse and user friendly looking modding programs I have ever seen) and steam workshop support.

When i originally posted I noticed a trend with a lot of big-name games, including those from EA. They usually wait until super close to (or even after) the game's release to give out a dev kit. This means that every time they update the game, it breaks all the mods people have made.

Think about Starfield, Ark, Conan, 7 Days to Die, and Space Engineers. Starfield, for example, was modded before Bethesda even released their dev kit. Every single update messed up the mods, and we couldn't play for days! The same thing happened with SE, 7 Days to Die, Ark, and Conan.
If they released dev kits with every update, modders could fix their mods right away,
and we wouldn't have to wait so long to enjoy the game again. But that rarely happens to the point i dont know of any that the dev kit does update along with every mod breaking patch.Except maybe SE iv'e never really seen if they use a dev kit but ive seen many of the mods on servers ive run break after a update and be unplayable for weeks until a update to the broken mods happened if they ever got fixed at all.
Also i never said that there wouldnt be mod support just that it would be closer to full release ,does amke me wonder ifg there plannign on goign full release pretty soon i mean honestly game runs great lots of content already and now there also talking bout new DLC ,so stands to reason that they could be coming out of EA pretty soon maybe possibly.

I'm not sure how you reached the conclusion that having a dev kit means less broken mods and mods getting fixed quicker. That's entirely up to the skill and motivation of the modder.

yeah i wont even play this game without mod support. i bought it and never played it lol. too many things i hated and wanted to change.

And a lot sooner than some people realize. This was posted on August 26.

"Yes, in our upcoming major update at the end of September, Soulmask will officially offer user-generated content creation tool: say hello to the Devkit!"
