Does death mean losing everything in inventory?

I am new to the demo, just a couple of hours in, and this is my first survival game and it seems that when I die that's it. I lose all my inventory and have to start all over. Is this correct or later on is there a point where you can start save games please?

If you die your inventory will stay at the place of your death for some minutes, but if it despawn, that's it.

Ok thank you very much for the prompt response. So if I die there will be a chance to respawn at that point on the map, or as near as possible and run to get the stuff. Does the stuff from the inventory show up, like in Elden Ring ??, as shiny icon or something? Or does something else happen on the screen at death please?

Yeah it shows on the map and on-screen as a hud marker

it's 30 minutes. Pretty standard in survival games.

And what killed you will still be there, but now you'll have no gear so it'll just kill you again.

Play solo and turn death packages to drop at feet.

so i am also uninstalling jsuta heads up if you die near a barraks your armour and weapons will dissappear from your death bag
