So this is basically Nibiru - Age of Secrets, remixed as a hidden object game?
http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/nibiru-age-of-secrets ?

How much of the locations and inventory puzzles were removed?
Any chance of getting the actual Nibiru point-and-click adventure game on Steam?

As long as permission was recieved from the original creators, it makes sense. But you are being vague as to whether or not permission was recieved for this particular game.

To my knowledge Lost Civilization was approved by the original creator (in fact, if I am not mistaken I believe he worked in Lost Civilization as well).
I see. Well thank you for taking the time to respond to my comments! I really appreciate it.

This thread is two years old, but I cannot help myself but to point to following:
- This is a hidden object game inspired/remaking Nibiru, but the Nibiru itself was a remake of an older game (Messenger of Gods (1998), published only in Czech Republic.

I've played both of them and I think I'll give this one a shot, sooner or later.

- "new generation developers" - the developer, Icarus Games, may be relatively a relatively new developer, but the founder has been working in the industry since 1993. His second company is behind one of the greatest Czech worldwide famous hits, Mafia + Mafia II.

I had never heard of Messenger of Gods before, so thank you. I'm watching some clips of it on Youtube, as I have no idea how to acquire a copy.

That will be difficult, as the game isn't sold officialy any more (AFAIK the game was re-released only once in Czech budget edition Game4U in July 2001 and this edition itself is gone for years, not to mention this particular game). There is no official digital download either. As the game doesn't exist in English and there is Nibiru the chances of ever seeing it re-released are slim to non-existent... unfortunately, since the dubbing is awesome, it's an ensemble cast for the most part.

So, we have creators of original games, who don't have the rights to those games, helping make remakes of the games they don't own?

You mention Activision owns the original Gabriel Knight, but Jensen was working on a remake - does Activision have any rights in that?

(A Garbriel Knight remake was already made, not sure if that's the one you were referring to, I think it was done before the 2018 post above).

So many old games will probably never see a steam release(or any release) due to rights issues .

Though i seem to have bought this early 2016 .
Probably another bundle :

I first encountered NiBiRu via a boxed collection titled "Adventure Collection Volume One". Also included are:

Return to Mysterious Island (Awesome!)
Secret Files: Tunguska (Great!)
Keepsake (Wonderful!)
Dead Reefs (Never got it to run...)

I also have another boxed copy of NiBiRu that I purchased later. I recommend just searching for a disc copy online.

Now, now.....I don't want to hear any poppycock about not having an optical drive... Or about having had the short-sightedness to downgrade to Windows 10...

Nice collection of games you have there , i sometimes wish i kept my huge collection of physical games ,it was just taking up too much space ,got rid of most of it sadly.

I have a usb portable dvd drive ,works for most discs though occasionally i come across an old
cd-rw disc in my stash that doesn't work.

Yes those games I remember obtaining apart from Dead Reefs (which I've never heard of). Keepsake I remember fondly. Other games from 'that generation' I owned also include Lost Horizon and the Art of Murder series - namely FBI Confidential and Hunt for the Puppeteer. The rest are not very good.
