private lobby not working

My friend and I are trying to play a private game. we've made a private lobby before in the first game and it isn't working now. when making a private lobby, I tell them the code, and it says lobby not found. we switched and I typed in a code and it still didn't work. anyone else having this problem?

Is the version of the title screen the same for each version?
Is the REGION the same?
