If you're in the same location within the level, then you can reach through to your friend's world and interact with them by items ONLY.
Perhaps it could show a "ghostly image" of your friend's character, instead of their Steam avatar, but that's just a minor graphical thing; Doesn't affect gameplay in the least.
In Co-op, you should get the same monsters at the same places, unless you loiter in an area for a while, in which case more monsters come and those are more different.
Waz can I hope a change in the future ?
Co-op comes from helping each other - warning of upcoming mobs, sharing resources, trading for what's best for each class, saving each other from death.
I've tried a few different ways to do multiplayer roguelike in the past, and while it's not everyone's cup of tea, this is the closest I've come to keeping all the good roguelike things while putting in many of the good co-op things.
Will I try other things? Certainly I'd like to. It's risky to try implementing stuff that might be an utterly useless dead-end though.
I think the game design of the co-op play is currently great, just the UI needs some improving, especially the chat.
It would be cool to see alternative co-op designs. You could implement them as a new system (Type 2 Co-Op or something like that) and leave the current one intact, that way you don't lose anything.
Yup, all I want is to see my partner, for the moment we dont really want to play the game because we dont feel like we are playing together.
You're the best, Waz!
I second the motion for "type 2 co-op," personally, while I still love the game, when I saw "co-op multiplayer" I just sort of assumed we'd be in the same game, but that's on me for not researching. If it's not too much trouble or ideal breaking, looking into a shared world co-op would be much appreciated! I'd imagine it would be touch to synchronize between eachother when to move and when to not, but that could be the tradeoff for having two guys/their pets.
I just cant stand the fact that you play like if you and your friend are doing the game pretty much alone but at the same time.
Still waiting for Waz telling us that he finallt did it.
Can't really be done nothing to play this great game properly with a friend?
