FIXED - extreme FPS drop when turning/aiming

edit - changing to another mouse fixed the issue

for some reason yesterday after 2 or 3 hours of game play, the game suddenly started dropping frames by more than half when I turn/aim in game. if i walk in a straight line it's fine. I updated drivers, restarted, changed settings....no luck. brand new PC with a 4080 in it, win11, 64gb ram, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

any ideas? I feel like I've had this happen in other games in the past but can't remember which. Thanks in advance!

I figured it out...
switched out my mouse for another one (same mouse, just a new one, fwiw) and it fixed the issue.
