NOPE! You're wrong! (i'm glad to say)!
Ive figured it out... you need to use more books to level! That's how it works now...
I actually quite like the system...
You can boost any skill with books, and since I bought the game you've always been able to.
Since the change of xp, they don't level anymore when sailing.
I'm not glad at all for this change which basically means that you have to waste 7 points (if I'm not wrong) to get to level 3. And since TP are in limited supply, it's really annoying. It would seem that spreading on different pirates somehow stacks, but I've not tried this yet. This would make levelling these skills completely pointless as it would make it far cheaper to give lvl 1 to 7 pirates (making a lvl 7 skill or something ?) rather than giving them all to your captain, taking a whopping 7 times number of skills points of his stats to get to level 3.
So, no, I don't think there is anything to be glad about here.
It's badly implemented, not explained anywhere, not intuitive, and it does not make sense that these particular skills stops to gain xp but other skills still do.
I honestly think it's a bug and was overlooked when they changed to passive xp. I hope it gets fixed.
... And i had waited months until the game was "finished" to play..
Still, books are in very limited supply, since they are sold out quite fast. I am playing a new game for three hours now, and have not been able to find a third map reading book. Is this really working as intended?
Second point, all valuables are wildly devaluated.
Pearls now are valued at 10 gold...
Guys, as discussed this is not the case. WIll it be hotfixed or what? I'm avoiding playing because of this issue... its really quite gamebreaking.
