How to get the "Hell" achievement?

I used to have 100% achievements for this game and have been searching for an answer to this question myself. I'll bump this and hope you get an answer. But if I find one first, I'll be sure to let you know.

Is it necessary to start a new game to get this achievement? Or can I use the save that I had before the recent updates started?

most likely you need a new game, well, or look for the island of suicides

To be specific, you'll need a save file recent enough (1.2.21/march 24th) to contain a "Suicide Island", then you'll have to find a witch (spawns randomly in towns) and purchase enough arsenic for all your crew, +1. Head to the suicide island, talk to the npc to perform a mass suicide ritual and prepare to fight.

Keep in mind, the ritual WILL NOT WORK if you have not defeated at least one legendary pirate.

Perfect, thanks. I'll have to restart then. My save was created prior to the Hell/Suicide Island update.

How do I have this achievement? I haven't played the game for years. Just noticed it pop up in my Rarest Achievement Showcase. I apparently earnt it back 5 Jan, 2015.

I figured it out. Looks like it they repurposed the removed 2014 xmas achievement that I had.

Oh man this has been my rarest achievement for a while and I couldn't remember ever doing it. Now it makes sense.
