I like the terraforming idea but the whole new invented world fantasy theme is tiresome.
Creating and introducing new world and creatures as a completely unknown author/studio is a risk that won't pay off IMHO. You should have chosen something more conventional with a twist (ie sparkly vampires - as much I hate those you get my point). Nobody knows/likes/cares about the world and the characters you make when you are starting out, so you have to make something really powerful and well defined.

I would also say that you should release a demo.

But its a double sided sword when you see so many games for an example
all the early access games trying to capititlize on the DayZ craz or more games like Rust and seven days to die, then all these first person shooters that are like COD
Just think about of how many of these games were the orginal games that started it all
Think minecraft was just a indie that made millions
they have made something powerful and well defined as well as something Orginal not complitly but then again what doesn't follow chiche and tropes used over the years?
