Broooo, the original trilogy was the original souls like games. They were amazing. And if they just made them with upgraded graphics I would purchase them 10 thousand times over. This was an amazing trilogy. All 3 games we A+

They were in no way Soulslike whatsoever. Onimusha has more in common with Resident Evil than it does anything else. Nothing about Onimusha is soulslike, and each game in the franchise is further FROM a soulslike and actually starts getting into Devil May Cry territory.

I have no idea what you people are seeing, but it's wrong. Onimusha has nothing at all in similarities to a Soulslike. I say, go play the games again, because you're misremembering.

Onimusha needs to reclaim its place as the split between survival horror of Resident Evil and the pure action of Devil May Cry. Souls games are great, but soulslikes are a dime a dozen and very few do anything interesting with the formula. Onimusha should keep its identity and not chase trends

Couldn't have said it better myself.

The last thing onimusha needs is a stamina bar. It's a franchise that's movement was founded on microdashing at the flick of a stick, at instantly killing entire rooms of enemies with tornados or issen chains, and in the first place it started as a resident evil game.
It can be souls-like even without stamina management.
just make it hard and toughtful. :D
How is pressing circle for the 10th time hard or thoughtful?

It already is a souls-like franchise without ever having been coined, thing is, what you do in this game is kill enemies and absorb their SOULS to empower your items and such, this was a core mechanic of the original games, if you think they're not a souls-like, and this is a sparing of the name, since King's Field didn't feature souls just gave you xp... I digress, Point is, its literally been in the game since xbox and ps2 releases of Onimusha: Warlords.

indeed, they just needed to make this game without any difficulty options and go as hard as they could

the ONLY thing that it has in common with Souls is using Souls as a progression system. literally nothing else.

that's like saying every shooter is a Doom-like just because it has guns. (which was stupid in the 90s and early 2000s to call everything Doom Clones as well. blegh.)

you could literally call Red Orbs in God of War "souls" and it would be the exact same system you can described for Onimusha. does that make God of War Soulslike?

just because it uses a vaguely similar idea does not make it the same style of game as Dark Souls. one, that's disingenuous to how great Dark Souls is, and two, that undermines Onimusha's own strengths as a franchise, especially considering resourced progression systems from enemies are the oldest method of progressing a character since Tabletop games in the 70s. the only thing Souls ever did was put a unique spin on the concept and craft other systems around it, like respawning enemies and losing it when you die.

Souls like mechanics are just a evolution of hack in slash like Zelda. So not sure why people would be against it.

Did they want charscter action games which again is just another side of hack in slash.

Personally I am fine eitherway but the gameplay shown off looks more like the souls like side
