How do I harvest plants?

I feel like maybe I just need to progress through the island or something, but I unlocked plants but the "Harvest All" button is greyed out no mater what. I thought that maybe you have to choose between harvesting and watering but no, I can water still but it won't let me harvest. I've tried clicking everywhere and nothing works.

I currently have Stonebrook Field as the furthest I've progressed, but have yet to unlock any zones beyond there.

Also, I have 88k/11k for the growth. I assume that's what I needed to fill in order to harvest anything.

Some plants provide a passive bonus based on their level, you want to "upgrade" those.
Others can be harvested every X hours as well, those provide a bonus based on their upgrade level.

The first plant purely provides a passive bonus, there is no harvesting with that plant.

I don't even have a harvest button or the ability to upgrade a plant. I'm at about 200k/11.6k for the first plant.

Because, as i said: the first plant isn't harvested, ever.
But like all plants it can be leveled up, to increase it's bonus and new ones to it.
