Hi
two cases:
- naturals nodes (outside your village) tends to be random, so whatever your level you will get approximately same amount of fishes from lvl5 to lvl9, and you have no less chance of catching nothing, sorry...
- village nodes. If you are above lvl of the node, you tend to get higher lvl fish, so in this case you will get almost only lvl7 minnows
If by extra perks, you mean gathering boost or lucky find bonus, that is only active for village gathering.
Hope this help

Actually if you get really lucky, it can be plus or minus 4 levels up and down. My mining was level 17 and I was gathering Gleaming Iron (level 21) from the level 20 Mining Rock at Trader's Refuge.

The way it works is that in the wild, a node will hold 2 lvls up and 2 lvls down for that node (not your level). So, a lvl 17 rock will hold ore from lvl 15 to lvl 19. Your level is irrelevent regarding what comes out of the rock.

A lucky find is finding more than 1 item at a time - or one of the rare gathers....There is a guide on steam about crafting and village usage - very good info...:)

There are different types of lucky finds. Gems you can find anywhere. Rare finds in the wild are things like xinxen carp, luckinium (all listed in knowledge book) which give bonuses such as mass gather, mega loot etc. Rare finds in the village are cornucopia, which you can consume to get 15 vim.
