It really doesn't matter if the game is "still in active development" or not. It only matters that people persistently kept tossing it into the garbage bin for at least TEN YEARS straight.
Keep in mind, the Steam Charts statistics only cover the presence of this game on Steam (since April 2014) under the name "Villagers and Heroes". Before that, the game was already a failure on Facebook, under the name "A Mystical Land".
Perhaps one indicator might be that the largest of the 5 servers is US3, which was only opened when the game released on Android.
The game did indeed launch in 2011, as a browser game called a mystical land. It had already moved to a stand alone client on PC under the name Villagers and Heroes by late 2013 and launched on Steam in April 2014. The Android launch was, I think in 2017, with iOS the following year.
Ask yourselves this - are game developers really going to keep paying to maintain 5 servers on a game which has been a "failure" for more than ten years?
We have indeed neglected updating our Steam presence for the last few years, but we are indeed trying to change that now. I have already uploaded th patch notes for our latest expansion "The Crux Part 1" and we'll update the news regularly and also keep an eye on this forum again.
