Game doesnt Run

Reinstalled today after a break for some months and now the game doesnt wanna run...everytime I try to play the game opens a window then immediately shuts down...its says its ´´running´´on steam but nothing happens.....maybe a bug on the servers or something?

The game had a couple largeish updates recently. Open your library, right click Villagers and Heroes, click the Updates tab and make sure your automatic updates are enabled and that you are on the latest version. After that, go to Local Files tab and click Verify Intergrity of Game files, and let it run a scan. Hopefully that helps. Steam seems to have issues with updates that the off-Steam client doesn't. Hope it works for you! It's a good game.

I second Squeakandme's suggestions.
A few months ago I returned to the game after several years break. I've had no issues. Maybe just bad timing and caught a server reboot? I would try squeakandme's suggestions first. Hope it works for you

Dunno I tried squeak suggestions and still the same problem persists...really dont know how to proceed now and this problem is affecting many people here who are trying to play too...

Thanks for the link friend...I will message them and mention that me and some others are having this problem...who knows they may point some other kind of solution or try to come with a hotfix

Verifying files gave nothing. I sent them support ticket with link to this topic, hopefully to receive answer here as well.
It's not just single case issue - my friend wanted to try this game, hence we tried to launch, but no success... and problem still persists.

It looks like game sometimes blinks for short amount of time, then it's only in background visible via Task Manager, with usage around 120 MB of memory. (does not increase).

Edit: PS: Why on site it keeps turning into German language for me?
Edit2: I was able to run game in past.

That´s Beridok said...I sent my support ticket yesteday and told others had the exact same problem...I dont know how BadKarma and Squeak are being able to run the game normally but as all can see most people here cant make the game work...its crash to desktop the moment the expansion window appear and it says its still running but we dont see anything running at all.

Its not just a couple of people are able to run the game on Steam.
According to Steam Charts there are 50+ players playing the game daily on Steam.

I hope you are able to get the game working for you. IMO its a good game with a great community.

They just pushed thru the second half of an expansion on Monday, hopefully customer support isn't too far behind.

Same thing happening to me, both using Steam, and when downloading the client directly from the website. Pretty frustrating.

So its half working and half not working...still no response from the costumer support...I tried doing like twodee and oownloaded the game client and still not working...the game windows stays there but stuck at 0% forever

I spoke with a Mod ingame, pointed out this discussion and asked that it be brought to the attention of the developers.

No idea what their weekend schedule is like but hopefully they'll contact you soon.
