Is the WRX STI Type S supposed to be slower than the LEVORG 2.0?
I'm just curious... I've been collecting the Subarus, and was just looking at the stats of these 2 in particular. The WRX is lighter, has more HP and torque, yet is slower. I have not managed to tune it to be faster too.
What else can I look at to improve a car's speed beside tweaking with the gears? Or are some cars just doomed because of their chassis?
P.S I don't play racing games much. I bought this game because it brought back memories - TXR came with my Dreamcast and I loved just cruising in the game, only occasionally racing rivals.

Haven't looked at those two in game, myself, but I did own an '18 STI a couple years back and it has shorter gear ratios than the regular WRX and Impreza had, and presumably the Levorg may have the same longer gears than the STI as well. In a 1:1 comparison of two cars, let's say both in 3rd gear, the one with the shorter gear ratio (STI) will accelerate to the engine's redline faster (oversimplification, but you get the gist); however, the car with the longer gears may have an overall faster acceleration on a longer speed measurement (like 50 km/h -- 200 km/h) because the car with longer gears is spending less time shifting. Try making your STI's gear ratios longer rather than shorter, and see if that pushes the car in the direction you were aiming for.

Just remember that the Japanese specification VAB, (or most generations) do not use the EJ257, which is the export engine.

Yes, but what does that have to do with this topic? The engine is irrelevant, OP pointed out the WRX has a better power/weight ratio than the Levorg and yet it's slower. It could be the gearing in the transmission or possibly the rear diff, but even comparing the EJ257 to the FA20, they should be close enough to be comparable. Not like we're comparing an FA20 to an LS7.

I see. Thanks for your reply! Your post did teach me more about gear tuning and gear shifting. I tended to drag the lower gears as much as I can because I believed that made for better acceleration (which is similar to what you explained but mine was just in a layman way).
I ended up not using the VAB much after I got the earlier STIs. One simple reason is that the earlier ones have nicer behinds... haha. And they are faster with more oompmf in their engine sounds.
Yeah, that's weird
Non-WRX model is just straight better, and it's even older, than WRX, lol
the gears are bugged and not tuneable like they should be. they stop changing entirely when changing the final ratio or even go the opposite direction.

the mkIII supra has the power to go 200 but its gears are so bugged out the game just wont let you set the gears up right.

this bug was in the ps2 version of the game.....
The GC8 is the fastest car in the game, with full unlocks it's possible to hit 272mph

yes theres something off with how the power and weight numbers affect the cars. its really weird and i hope they fix it. some cars being faster than others for no reason are characteristics of Wangan Midgnight Maximum Tune (same Developer). So maybe not a bad thing just an adjusting thing.

Yeah, it's slow. Sucks too, I made one of my best liveries for it as well
