Tokyo Xtreme Racer
Is frustration a feature?
Hit a wall trying to beat Shuwa Shuwa and Melancholic Angel. Bought the RX-8, which I'm assuming is the quickest car available at that stage of the game as it is furthest down the unlock list. Have every possible upgrade installed. Have tried about a dozen different gearing options, both for acceleration and top speed. These bosses just walk away from me. Not a "skill issue"... I have a silly amount of hours in other racing titles and know how to build and tune a car.

Is this just how the game is? Beating the AI needed to progress further is just a matter of luck or exploiting traffic in hopes they drive into another car? It seems like this stage is just the "intro" to the game as the desirable cars don't even unlock until AFTER you beat Cinderella.

B) what others have said. Race(push) them until you reach an area with many turns and corners, and just rush past them when they brake.

Walking away from you, sounds like they're (AI) not even trying. Maybe it's a you problem? Usually Angel and Shuwa zoom past people. Maybe your car is so crappy the AI feels no threat by you, are going slow, but somehow are still beating you?

About Shuwa Shuwa: try to challenge him on wangan before you have a turn with P.A.
Right after the start turn on nitro and disable it after you reached his rear bumper and slipstream after him
then just wait until he started to get down by max speed and pass him on nitro
this strat gave me an easy win against him
also: you car must have at least 270 km/h possible max speed to overtake him
BTW i also don't get why MC is so important for this game, because AFAIK she was a boss only in one game while in others she's just a wanderer with quirk requirements (such as driving an US car)
and yeah: sometimes you need to rely on other than your skill or car's power to win
for example: i saw someone did a massive trick to win the leader of A.P.S. in TXR 3: he waited past race in tab until they reached a divider and just smocked him after he crashed into that divider
i still have a smile because of that :D

As much as I don't like saying "skill issue" I'm minded to say it might be.

I managed to beat MA pre-nerf with an upgraded and incorrectly tuned (longer gears, which aren't actually suited for C-1) RX-8 simply by making sure the battle would involve one of the heavy braking zones where I could swoop past with relative ease and then hold on for dear life with defending :3

Similar thing with Shuwa Shuwa, though I found him much easier to defeat.

This. Waiting patiently for a boss to reach an area with multiple corners, barriers, or narrow sections with traffic can improve winning chances. It can be frustrating when you just want to get it over with and progress.

What I miss from TXR3 is the ability to pass opponents while flashing your lights, making you start out in the front, making things a bit easier.

I've mentioned this before. The AI is dumb, it's made like that on purpose, Genki gave them a fast car and they'd be flying. You're meant to use the surroundings to essentially "weaken" the AI. There's no workaround, just you using the environment as your weapon. Always has been the case for its previous games. We don't need nerfing a car to suit someone's low skill issue, Angel's situation is one such example and Angel's the least of our worries because there'll be more cars faster than her and will use Bayshore as their location, think Shuwa Shuwa but 3x fast. It's a fighting game on 4 wheels.

The Cinderella portion, I believe there was one YouTuber (not Kingdom Twelve, that man is a godsend) pointed out that in the pre-Early Access, it was never the case so Genki might have put that timegate last minute as a means to slow progress since we only have the half game. That probably change once the full game release to make the game more forgiving, though we don't know if that's going to be implemented after its 4 month cycle finishes, or will it be in parts. We don't have an actual roadmap so communication with Genki is rather difficult and most of the people here don't have access to their Discord.

How to get to 270 km/h?
I cant get the tuning that high.
I'm using S15 ,S14

"Bots can't turn"

Dude that's all anybody had to say. Waited to challenge them at areas with turns and they went down easily enough. It's very similar to racing in Forza. The AI is fast as F on straights, but can't corner for anything.

Thank you.
