Tokyo Xtreme Racer
What car(s) did you pick?
Really curious what everyone picked to clear the three main phases of early access. What car did you pick at the very beginning? What car(s) did you use to beat the Elite Four (Bloodhound, Hanyaa, et al)? What car(s) did you use after the four, but before Cinderella? And what was your experience with them?

I started with the panda Trueno and enjoyed that I was able to fully upgrade it early since the starting price was so low. I then swapped to the most expensive Toyota, I believe it was the ZN6 or the ZNB, but felt that it was only average. Once I unlocked the next set of perks, I immediately swappaed to the RX8 and beat the game with it. Lovely car with a deep green paint-- it's not the fastest, but it had a high top speed that I tuned for. No regrets with that car, although I get the feeling there are cars with much faster acceleration in that tier of unlocks.

Would really love to hear what route you took in the game! Let me know.

I started with the Sprinter, immediatly bought the Levin when I had money (personally prefer the later visually) and upgraded that. When the Levin started to not be enough I got a GT 86 and just ended up finishing the early access with it.
After Cinderella I just bought a Mitsu GTO, and have been riding with that.

dont go with the r34 its severely lacking compared to the supra RZ

it only gets 400 hp and the supra gets 450. the supra will do 215 mph but the r34 struggles to do 186 mph

And yet R34 is usually more recommended.
Catalogue spec only takes you that far you know?

If you're going with a FR why not take the RX-7... it's lighter and very nimble.

My choice was MX-5 -> Mazda Axela BK3P -> RX-8 -> RX-7 FD.
then I bought the R34, and it was slightly faster but less turny than the FD. I went back to the FD but noticed that the experience in the R34 made me a better FD driver.
Swift > S13 K's > R33 GT-R > Evo V

I'd say the GT-R is more fun, specially because of that glorious RB26 howl, but the Evo 5 has a higher potential: more peak HP and less weight. RIght now I'm buying the specific cars for wanderers, only need tuning the Mk X a bit and buying the 180 SX, and then I'll try building an RX-7 because it's power/weight ratio looks amazing.

Swift: it's turbocharged, it delivers the power early which is important in early game.
s13 K's; it's really OP, you can finish the game with it.
RX-8: you might need it for the bosses, but I think I defeated Midnight Cinderella with the s13...
Trueno>GT86>RX8>Chaser. Although Chaser is a little bit clumsy as a 4-door sedan, it is surprisingly steady and is now my go-to car for cruising on Wangan line to farm long run bonus.

Starter: Mazda Roadster
Ch1: Toyota GT86
Ch2: Suzuki Cappuchinno/ RX8 to beat Melancholic angel
Ch3: Mitsubishi GTO (will be my car to the end game unless they add the 600hp monster Skylines of today)

Started with the AE86 tofu delivery car because it was the cheapest. Then got the GT86 before going with the RX8.

Currently rolling around with the FC3S RX-7.
Mx-5 > BRZ -> S14 -> Supra (JZA80) "Legendary edition" 444 km/h max speed. 650 HP and 100 kg torque.

IMHO S14 is overhelming! I win pre-nerf Melanholic Angel from second try!

P.S> I'll trying to switch from BRZ to S13, but it weaker on 200+ km/h races, but more powerfull on C1 ring with better acceleration. Overwise, I think S13 is suboptimal if compare it with fine tuned BRZ.

BRZ perfectly balanced for Stage 1 / S13 weaker on Wangan
S14 OP for Stage 2 / RX-8 as alternative
Waiting NSX for Stage 3....

Swift > BRZ > RX-8

Bought RX-8 just for MA alone lmao. Currently had GR86, Fun car, still need a little tweak tho. Also aiming for BNR33.
I've done it twice now, Roadster => BRZ => RX8, then Swift => BRZ => S14. I've heard the S13 is capable of clearing MA, not sure about that, but if so that'd make for a better early game pick since you'd just have part spend rather than car spend so you can put money to other things (like wanderer cars and what not).
stopped playing after beating the game..and doing a few extra runs but my car choices in order

AE86 > PS13 (silvia not the 180) > RX8 (obvious choice) > R34 GTR (don't know why i picked it over the better looking R32 and 33 thought the game would up the ps after purchase to realistic figures instead of sticking to 280ps). did plan to max it out then get other cars. Would buy other cars to race wanderers..but spending upwards of 2mil just to get 100k back in a race then half that in repeats seems silly
ae86 > 180sx > S14
towards the end i used the S14 which to at 181 mph.
