Or maybe we don't like having a name change made to a long standing character in the franchise because someone idiot thinks a white car is symbol of white supremacy and should be colored differently.
I mean, all the rivals are heels, and having them be a bit spicy is OK since they're SUPPOSED to be the bad guys here, and we're supposed to defeat them all.
I can't find any evidence of said offended people. This is most likely a decision the developers made entirely by themselves. Stop making things up over spilled milk.
A lot of time these changes come from a DEI consultant to a game that looks through the game, makes up a bunch of artificial stuff about how something's bad that's completely unhinged and not based in reality, companies get afraid and make the change anyways because they think it'll make the game more appealing in foreign markets.
Ironically, it does the exact opposite and only ruins their game with a bunch of forced changes that clash with the rest of the game.
Like Sweet Baby Inc., who's a very infamous DEI consultant.

I would like to add that Japanese media in general is being infiltrated by people who loves power tripping and hates the media under the guise of "Localizing" and "Consultant" Agencies which is why weird changes happens in the first place.

Funimation tried that, and once the Japanese understood what their American counterparts were doing... well... Funimation isn't these days and Japan is looking at AI based solutions to prevent a translation getting tampered with.
FAFO indeed.
