I want to drive the car I want.
I don't like being forced to take a dead-end car at the start. Would much rather have it be closer to TXR0/3 where you can buy a faster car, but it costs more to upgrade and you start with less money as a result.

Tanking (not a typo) an AE86 should be more of a gamble play where you're betting you can clear rivals with a much weaker car in order to afford an even better car earlier. Here though, all the starting cars are pretty bad, and your options for better cars is the most limited it's like ever been, where you are forced to spend points to unlock cars you don't care about, and THEN beat bosses to gain access to more cars you don't care about, so you can finally get to the car you care about.

Add loan mechanics so I can buy a chaser or something at the start and just drown in debt for the first 3 hours of the game or something, ANYTHING man the 86 is so lame.

TL;DR I don't want to drive an AE86, I want to drive something I actually want to drive, even if it means I have to pay a much higher price for it.

Buy the MX5.
I've played TXR 3 over and over. With the money you get at the start you can only afford a dead end car at the start and grind your way to a better car. But I would love to be able to start with the twin turbo SUPRA that you can chose in Import tuner challenge

Man has missed the point entirely.
the ideal start is a '90 crx SiR but hondas being a bootch.
And I want the R34 as a starter car. Just play the game.
Yeah I made a similar thread about this issue. The car progression is way to rigid overall right now, it's not even just the starter car. In TXR2 Theres a bunch of cheap cars or you can spend all of your money on the FC RX7 with no money left for upgrades, it makes for in interesting choice.

The ND miata is a dead end car, I dont think any of the team leaders or bosses use it. I hope this is just an early access thing and we get more starters in the final game.

Is the game not early access explicitly because they want our feedback.
i went mx5 to toyota 86 to s14 to mkIV supra
and could have probably just skipped the toyota 86 and went straight to the s14 as a second car.

either way those first two cars got sold as theyre junk.

Sure they want some feedback but I highly doubt they will be completely changing perk trees because we all want different cars to start with.

Did you get the car you wanted to start in Gran Turismo? I know I didn't. How about In Need For Speed games? Yeah, not there either. I didn't start with the car I wanted in WRC games either... or the Dirt games either, or even in Wreckfest, or Grid... imagine that.

First of all, I can't imagine it would be that hard to change the perk trees. It's basically just setting flags where a car is purchasable/unpurchasable, and the existing branch could easily be turned into car & part discounts.

Second of all, I got to start with a Chaser in TXR3, and an Evo in TXR0. They weren't exactly what I wanted, but they were still cool cars that I could be satisfied with until I unlocked the cars I wanted. It worked just fine there because more expensive cars cost more to upgrade, so it took longer to beef up your car.

i remember getting the JZX until i could buy/build a FC or FD. considering we only have half the cars atm i have to assume they cut the starter cars as well.
hopefully they open it up a little on release.

TXR3 has like over 10 different starting cars. IMO that's a far better way to start out than just the three choices we have right now. That said, I imagine TXR3 has at least double the cars that TXR'25 has, if not far more.

It's in early access, there will probably be more starting cars in the full release
