There is also lack of time change from dusk/night/dawn/early morning. (Would be cool for example if you were forced to stop racing before morning rush hour hits every day).
Weather!!! Rain was neat, don't see why we cant have rain again. Saw this also mentioned in a YouTube video: older titles had a more dynamic background of the city, which made it feel more alive. There were also trams/trains, and airplanes taking off/landing. Small details which add a sense of immersion into the games.
Visual mods based on performance mods: I remember it used to be that body weight reduction and body rigidity/roll cage were separate and when you installed a roll cage in zero, it changed based on 4 point, 6 point, 8 point etc.
Brake calipers and rotors also used to visually change as you upgraded them, as they should.
Radiator and inter-cooler used to be visible once you upgraded them. I dislike that such visual mods now cost money separately from the performance parts. It makes no sense.
I also have always felt like this game would be so much cooler with more videos like in Zero and TXR3. Along with actual character models vs just shadows, and maybe even talking character scenes like in the very first need for speed underground. Need for speed with Nakai, Risky Devil, etc was cheesy as hell, but directed right TXR could pull off the right vibe. They could make cinematic cut scenes where you get a glimpse into the opponent driving down the street and hitting the on ramp as they chase you down to challenge you. I know the studio currently doesn't have a huge budget for all this, but hopefully after seeing the success of the new title, the next game could focus more on the story, as the racing is already there.
Another thing would be to make all the off ramps accessible so you could exit the highway and quickly turn around. Perhaps asking for fuel and gas stations might be a bit too much but heck, why not? It's 2025, its much easier to make a larger game with more off highway real estate. Heck even skip Nagoya/Osaka and just give us touge courses and a way to reach them from an exit on the highway. Make the touge part of the game like it's already part of the lore!
Last thing that would really pull the game together: This is a little known fact, but there was a version of TXR for the PSP titled "Street Supremacy" in which there was an active team battle aspect to the game that was quite fun. I saw this as the "ultimate vision" of the creator of TXR, based on the lore, the teams, all the details written about everyone, it would make sense if this was the intent which never made it into the final games aside from the PSP version.
TLDR: I hope the developers read all this, lol.
I understand what you meant, that you might feel left like you wanted more.
I kind of hope that over the months are years, this game will get shown even more love and evolve with more updates, but it might be wishful thinking.
The idea of dusk/night/dawn/early is really interesting. It could act like a trigger too, so only certain groups come out at certain times, and the times are visibly noticeable.
Rain would also be fantastic! My PC is in need of on update, so I think rain would make my PC overheat too much (;′⌒`), still it is a great idea.
The PSP Street Supremacy title passed me by. I have the Dreamcast, PS2 and Xbox games but I need to check out the PSP game. I think PSP emulators are quite good, so I think it's possible to play it on the PC.
I hope the devs read your feedback too! You have a lot of good ideas (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
I am so happy that TXR came back to us, so I wish it is just the start of good things to come.
Tbh, the only old TRX um really a "fan" of is ITC, the rest I played and I like them, but it's not a love situation.
This one, I already love because it takes all the things I wanted the franchise to keep and modernizes them accordingly.
I've played worse games for 60 bucks than this 30 dollaroo early access
tbh I have a blast building my garage and just re-challenging rivals and traffic cars. Not every game needs endless drip-fed content.
I would be happy, though I'd find the resolution to the story lacking. I actually want to know what happens with Eternal Polaris and the other returning Devils.
Unlike some, however, I don't want features like colour character artwork nor do I want voice acting. These are erroneous features for a AA game and I would rather the work be put into map extensions and rivals and a way to monetize your time trial runs, though I am happy to just try to race myself for bettering my own time from time to time.
I never expected to see this series again and this is more than I could have hoped for to begin with.
There are AAA games with sub six hour campaigns, like two bux an hour isn't really that bad considering the current state of things.
I've got nearly 40 hours into the game but I also have raced against all but a few wanderers and have been grinding for a bit of extra cash. I suppose that you could just run through the basic requirements and stop at 15 hours but I think that the average player has gotten much more out of it. Steam reviews show 20-40 hours on record for a large majority of players.
import tuner had the dusk dawn cycle you mention.. it worked well kept it interesting.
youre lucky.. people here seem to understand what you mean, i made my own discussion along the same lines as your opinions and i got a load of abuse ..lmao.
just hope this game gets the long overdue attention and respect it deserves!
BUT... the perk/bp system kills it for me.. why did genki implement this?
we never had it before and we dont need it now it makes the game feel restricted unlike previous txr where if you had the cash you got the glory and upon defeating speed king zodiac and the 13 devils we got some extra tune ups..
wallet restrictions dont make sense either.
for now im out but ill be keeping a close eye on this until full release if i like what i see ill purchase again if not ill try out all the other similar titles that will be fast approaching in their bid to knock this game of its podium after seeing its popularity!!
So no, I wouldn't be truly happy if this was the final game, but the fundamentals of it makes me think it's one of the very best entries in the series for driving feel and optimisation. Even my potato 1650 does a fair old job of keeping 60fps with medium detail on most things. Can't ask for more than that.
I pay more than $30 to go watch a 2 hour movie in a theater...
$30 for 15 hours of entertainment is a fkn bargain. Kids these days dude...
Mountain Lift Tickets for Skiing and Snowboarding are $150+ for like 6-8 hours.
A 2 hour Jetski rental is $200-$300.
Renting a new release on Google Movies is $20
You're reaching hard if you think this isn't a good deal even if you only get 10 hours out of it it's a better entertainment investment than SO MANY things.
