Unfortunately it didn't work for me but it seems to generally fix it for other people.
But yes Genki please fix this, it's really annoying.
Tried verifying game files in Steam, unplugging and plugging the headphones back in, restarting the game, switching cars, etc... Nothing has brought back the engine sounds.
Hope to see a fix soon, it really kills the experience.

I tried to plug in the audio jack headphones and that's what triggered it for me and no workaround.
