Bug Report: Car sound not working in 3rd person camera
So I have the same issue that others have already reported and there currently is no way to fix it for me.

When the game finishes loading the map you hear a noise that sounds like a record scratch and then the engine goes completely silent, only tires make a weird noise but there is barely any sound besides the music playing. Switching from 3rd person to the front/hood view fixes the issue somehow.

I've already tried all the usual steps (reinstalling/verifying) and the proposed fixes posted by others like rolling back drivers or updating them but nothing fixed the issue. I've double checked that spatial sound is disabled (it was never was turned on to begin with) and I have regular stereo headphones that are plugged into a soundcard seated on my mainboard.
I even closed my soundcards software since some suggested that might help but it did nothing. This seems to be a very specific and odd bug on some systems.

I've never had audio problems in any other game with my PC so this must be some Early Access bullshittery which is a bummer.
If anyone has found a reliable way to fix this I'd greatly appreciate it if you could share it.

Hopefully the developers find a fix for this soon since the game is unplayable for me and I'm considering a refund until the issue is fixed.

If it helps: Someone suggested to me that just unplugging your headphones before starting the game and then plugging them in once you're in game in 3rd person view apparently should fix the issue.
I can't confirm this though since I have refunded the game for the time being.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I have the same issue. No exhaust sound in 3rd person. I am just using speakers so not really unplugging anything.

That sucks to hear, I assume you have built in speakers so there probably isn't even a way for you to attempt this fix unless you're willing to try disabling your speakers in the Windows Sound Options and then Re-Enabling them when you've loaded the game in 3rd person.
I'm not sure if this would simulate the same thing as physically unplugging something but maybe it's worth a try.

The way I have my PC setup it's a bit annoying to unplug the headphones from the back which is why I ended up refunding the game until this gets eventually patched. I think it's a bit silly anyways that whatever it is that's causing this bug can be solved by just not having something plugged into your sound output while loading the game, but if it actually helps fix it so be it I guess...
