Tokyo Xtreme Racer
Am I missing something
I'm at the second stage of the game, after defeating the first three teams and bosses.

I've reached my wallet limit twice, can't upgrade it until I advance.

I've bought a new car just to spend my capped money, and upgraded it. Can't buy any better cars or parts until I advance.

I've raced the bosses of each team twice each, and I can't beat them because they're far faster. But I can't upgrade any more or buy a better car until I advance.

So I can't advance without winning, and I can't win without upgrading. And I can't upgrade without advancing.

Am I missing something? I can't 'play dirty' because any impacts are detrimental only to my stamina. I can't block the AI because they are too heavy. I can't make them crash because they spin you out... I've tried tunes for acceleration and I get beaten on the straights every time... tunes for top speed are even worse, as acceleration is crucial at the start...
Is there a meta car or strategy that I'm just not employing?

When you say you can't upgrade until you advance. Do you mean you already spent your BP in the Perks shop?

Yep. I have level 2 engine and level 2 tires, but all of the others are locked until I advance...

you will see a list on who you need to race to unlock the next tier.

it is a small pain as the other games they had you never had to chase them all over the map,
i remember there was one versions of there game you could just exit then restart and the person you needed to race was your next racer.

this one you all over the map

it does get very tiresum towards the end chasing all over the map.

And are you talking about Rolling Master, Polarris and I can't remember the other bosses name? Or is this another set after those?

If it's those the Miata was able to take them down without much issue on tier 1 tuning.

Right now my issues are Golden Steer, Roulette Guy No.1, and Trance Drive. All are faster than my current two cars; a Trueno, and Silvia. Especially at the start, their acceleration is twice that of mine, even if I modify the transmission gearing.

I just defeated Wild Bird after some tries, almost lost as they sped ahead but caught up on a long straight with a higher top speed. Dunno how to get the other guys... and I can't buy a third car because the monetary gains for defeating the same racers are significantly lower.
This is somewhat different from the ITC and TXR titles on console...
You can try to get a power-up from someone in parking areas that last that night/session and get an edge up as well as following rival list to unlock more perks :winter2019cooldog:

I have not played it fully yet because my wireless USB decided to say, "new game? HAHA I no work no more" So my new one will be delivered tomorrow... :winter2019saddog:

Have you tried taking them in corner sections? load up and follow them for a bit then challenge them in corner sections.

I completely forgot about the mechanic power-up from parking areas. I guess it makes sense that the game springs him up during this segment of the game to let you know it's what it wants you to do to win. I'll have to go and find him again
Just to clarify about what you spent BP on, did you buy the stuff on the other tabs of the menu aside from just the tuning levels, where you can increase your SP battle attack and defense, and were there any permanent perks you could purchase from the one tab that might help? It sounds like you got farther than me so far that's why I can't say for certain what you should be looking to buy, I was already checking that menu every few races trying to see when I could buy a permanent perk and what they might be about. That's my only thought, since when you were asked about BP earlier you said "yes I bought the tier 2 tuning stuff", make sure you bought those other upgrades that aren't directly about the car itself.

Maybe that's as far as they intend anyone to be able to get in the game right now so they set it up like that? I hardly ever do early access like this, so I'm not sure if it's tended that you could already play the entire game if you felt like it or if there is content that isn't even in the game yet.

I've been winning plenty of BP, so I have the increased attack and defense upgrades as well. I went through most of the tabs and upgrades until I couldn't purchase any more
From just reading another thread about progress my only other thought for you is if there are any other road rivals that just haven't popped up on your map yet, guys you might be able to actually beat versus these other ones that you say are way too fast right now. People were saying check all the different parking garages because there are racers that will only show up there, trigger all the dialogue options if you see anyone with a yellow icon to talk to, and somewhere in the menus is the log that actually keeps track of the other drivers where maybe you can get a hint if there is anyone else to beat that you haven't seen on the road yet. Just like the old games there might be new rivals that appear after you hit a certain mileage, driving at a certain time or day, or do other things that aren't really explained clearly. Maybe there are a few other drivers to beat to get you across this gap of "can't upgrade anything, and can't beat the available rivals".

I just had this issue I was soft locked at lvl 5 and couldn't beat the lvl 6 crew leaders they would pull away to 50m and I would just lose despite having all possible upgrades and upgraded from the mx5 to the gt86

The problem was playing on automatic the cars are bogged down struggling to hit 180-190 all I did was switch to manual and i'm hitting 238 coz you can wind out the gears properly and I started beating all the crew leaders and bosses

It gets worse. Soooo so much worse.

I got through the second stage of the game by edging ahead and just barely making it with the last two bosses...

Now at level 12-14, I only barely beat Dark Tengu by using a mechanic boost; but I see absolutely no way to get ahead of Melancholic Angel with the resources currently at hand...
Best car, best upgrades, intricate tune... they're ridiculously quick, still gaining ground even when you're chasing with full nitro on...

I think I'll try again tomorrow.
I cant even find Golden Hennya to advance my upgrades D:. For anyone having trouble with cars just flat out blasting you at the start change your gear ratios. Went from playing catch up to playing defense until my top end kicks in.
I'm having the same issue. I have a GT86 and maxed out all available perks, tuning, and driver levels at this stage. Cannot beat Trance for the life of me. I'm fairly sure she's broken as there's really no logical reason gameplay-wise why it would be impossible to catch up to her in any meaningful way without cheating.
