Xbox Controller Settings
Hello, game looks great. Not having much success on my Xbox controller settings. Steering is super sensitive. I have it set to 0 and its still a strange feeling. Anyone have setting suggestions? Thanks

Set what to 0? only settings i see for the controller for steering is deadzone, steering speed to lock and steering speed to center.

i have:
deadzone: default (for now)
steering speed to lock: .8
steering speed to center: .8

still sensitive. wish there were more settings, like a sensitivity setting.
You've got it backwards. In this game, 0 is the most sensitive. Moving the slider to the right adds delay.

I also dislike the controls. I just wish they felt like they did in the Dreamcast versions. Instead they feel like the PS2 versions unfortunately. I hope they fix it.

These are the best settings I could get:

Handing Dead Zone: 2
Handing Response Time: 1
Handing Return Time: 0.3

Set Dead Zone as low as you can go (without stick drift).

*UPDATE!*
Turns out it's just the starter Miata that was the problem! I bought a Nissan Silvia and now it handles perfect!
Handing Dead Zone: 1
Handing Response Time: 0.5
Handing Return Time: 0.0

I also hate the controls. I just wish they felt like they did in the Dreamcast versions. Instead they feel like the PS2 versions unfortunately. If they don't fix it to make it feel like the Dreamcast version, then there's no point in playing because it handles so awful.
The controls are awful no matter what you do, however, the best settings I could get were:

Handing Dead Zone: 1
Handing Response Time: 0.8
Handing Return Time: 0

I set Dead Zone as low as I can go (without stick drift) because more range at the bottom = more time before you reach full lock, less jerky.
I wish they had a Dead Zone for limiting the full steering lock, in other words, the ability for max steering to only equal 90%, that way it's not so sharp and unrealistically aggressive.
Try

Handing Dead Zone: (whatever your preference is, but i personally keep it very minimal)
Handing Response Time: 0.3
Handing Return Time: 1

I've been playing on a PS4 controller and the controls feel practically perfect in the way it turns and moves

So the Handing Return Time fix the atrocious outer deadzone (if that makes sense)? I reach 100% with only the half of the joystick...
Handing Return Time should be kept relatively low so that your car is ready for correcting when you let go or change directions. The Dead Zone needs to be low so you're not sacrificing the range of your stick, high Dead Zone is more like keyboard controls, less range. And finally, the Steering Response Time is how fast the wheels jerk left and right all the way, so add a lot of delay here to reduce the jerky Handing. Steering Angle Correction should always be ON a it reduces the crazy steering a little during high speed driving.

Good suggestions, I will give it a shot. Thanks guys
I switched from an XBox One controller to a PS5 controller. Now I'm using these settings:

Handing Dead Zone: 1
Handing Response Time: 0.5
Handing Return Time: 0.1
Now I'm using
Dead Zone: 0
Response Time: 0.5
Return Time: 0.0
And driving in the first person view helps because the chase cam being so glued to the bumper makes the world move around instead of the car and adds to the twitchy feeling.
With these settings on a good PS5 controller, it's playable.

Is it plugged in or Bluetooth? I haven't tried Bluetooth, maybe it needs to be USB connected?

my problem with the xbox control is that if i want to bind the accelerator to the right stick, it wont let me do the same for the brakes. it's like the the movement from up and down is the one command. how would that e fixed? hypothetically

bluetooth
Maybe the Early Access doesn't have Bluetooth support yet? Correct it with a USB cable and report back.

Wow! I just changed from using my XBOX remote, and plugged in my PS4 remote. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Game is clearly designed for the PS controller. Even the options change when it detects it.
Dead Zone: 0
Response Time: 0.5
Return Time: 0.0
I'm really getting the hang of it now, these settings are good and the rest was just getting used to the feel of the game.
