Tokyo Xtreme Racer
Feedback for Developers
I'm not sure exactly where to post feedback, so I'm just starting a new thread here. Sorry if I should have posted on an existing one somewhere.

I firstly want to say thank you Genki for making a new Tokyo Extreme Racer. I have loved these games for 25 years and always dreamed of a new release since Import Tuner Challenge.

The game is really great as it stands, I just think there should be a few tweaks made.

Here is my feedback:

1. You should be able to customise the car's number plates more freely. I know in the old games you could add seven letters and have a custom plate. I know you are likely trying to keep in line with real Japanese license plates, but a lot more options to write what you want would be great.

2. Too many decent cars are locked behind walls early on in the game. There should be more cars available and better ones available from the start. Same goes for car upgrades.

3. The wallet limitation which is opened by purchasing perks is not good. Why limit what players can earn? It ensures that you can't save up for better cars earlier in the game, or even bosses' cars later on.

4. There are bosses that are so much faster than you that they are impossible to beat without relying on them crashing. You should be able to purchase cars and upgrades that even up the fight, but the best available cars and upgrades just don't cut it. I like a challenge, but some of the challenges are simply too much (Shuwa Shuwa Strong is a good example).

5. There is too much character dialogue to read. A bit is just fine, but loads of dialogue boxes when the characters really don't have much significant to say can be a bit of a drag.

6. Some cars are just bad and remain pretty slow even with a lot of upgrades. High upgrades should even up the playing field across any model. I dream of a Suzuki Cappucino that can keep up with a R34 skyline with loads of upgrades. When putting in the engine upgrades, I was hoping to see the three cylinder engine replaced with a 4... Alas, it did not happen. It would be good to not be able to predict that the Supra, R34 and RX7 will be the best cars and the only ones to realistically defeat the game in.

I hope this feedback finds you well, Genki! And again, thanks for a great game so far!

I agree. If this was going to be a "car RPG" we should be free to choose the cars we want to complete the game in. Maybe lock the upgrades for progression.

These days, its not uncommon to see even basic cars like Nissan 180SX or Silvia to have an RB26, six-cylinder GTR engine swap or a twin-turbo Fairlady Z to be at that level. I hope Genki goes back to their older TXR game features for that. :mhwgood:
Engine swaps is a big yes please. But first lets get them to make the cars more accurate speedwise. For example the 180 and silvia are slow as hell in game and the SR20DET engine is definitely no slouch.

Yup. Even an old S13 Silvia had a CA18DET engine and anyone who's ever worked on one in real life would know how fast they really are. A bit disappointing Genki is afraid to let players enjoy the game with the car they want.

Modern freeway missiles would be so much fun. Rotary-swapped AE86. Rotary-swapped GT86! 2JZ A70 Supra. K24 Miata. I want to see Genki polish this game like their older titles.

regarding the cramped/tiny nature of the capp's engine bay there are not many engines which could possibly fit. therefore most engines used for swaps are motorcycle engines.

so perhaps genki just tries to follow a more realistic approach.
