Tokyo Xtreme Racer
Nerf Straights, Buff Turning (for AI)
I've gotten to the end of early access. It's been quite fun (though I yearn for a multiplayer).

One thing I noticed toward the end. Some of the AI are impossible to beat on straights, but absolutely get crushed on turns. This meant that "harder" opponents simply get countered if I challenge them closer to any meaningful turn, but if I don't, I have no chance otherwise.

I think some of the designated "tough" AI should match the speed of the player on straights, but have turning capabilities that require the player to take clean turns. I usually can just tank the damage of riding the wall if I have to for an instant win.

Are you referring to Shuwa Shuwa Strong? I beat him (pre-nerfs) on a straight with an RX8. Use max Torque, adjust gear ratios appropriately, and use Nitro.

I beat the entire EA with no nos, auto shift, pre-nerfed.
Nonsense, you can easily beat all bosses in the straights with a start car, game is ez mode, gg.
This is how the games have always been. Play to your opponent's weaknesses. They have acceleration? Get them when they're entering the straights. They have top speed? Get them when they're entering the more twisty bits.

I mean that's my problem. The weakness they have on turns just makes the game feel less like a tense battle and more just "start at a turn if they're faster on straights".

It'd be cool to feel like I gotta work harder than that.

Parking garages are a godsend for enemies that require you to have a specific tuning though. Since they always exit on the same part of the expressway, as a developer, you can fine tune their cars for that specific track. Unfortunately they're all about as easy as standard grunts in the open road.

The straights are just too strong!

I just shoved him into the lower left part of the map before the first corner and just used nitro through the first corner, I beat him as we were about to enter the straights again. No tuning needed.

Of course; however, I thought it was apparent that I was addressing the current thread title itself of " Nerf Straights".

Agreed, I know many of the old players will die on this hill to defend the game currently however the gameplay truly gets stale. I don't mind there being different strategies to defeat opponents such as tuning for acceleration vs top speed but when you consider the amalgamation of; 90% of Rival Racers are too easy, The hard Bosses are really usually just OP and to have a fighting chance to beat them without cheesing you have to beat Cinderella so you resort to cheesing, there's zero sense of skill challenge considering you can easily beat everyone until you get to the bosses who you can easily beat not by skill but by...cheesing the terrible AI, etc

When I played Midnight Club: LA the game was far more rewarding in the sense that for the most part the game was balanced yet challenging, there was plenty of ways to objectively seek out only difficult opponents (or at least ones on near your level). In this game there's very little to no personal satisfaction considering the fact that you NEVER win the game based off skill for the most part... you either easily make your opponents bite the dust or you have to manipulate the out-dated style of AI to win....

They need to make the game more challenging, however competently thought out, the AI can be very good at times and at others it's atrocious. I want the game to be balanced in the sense that there only literally a handful of cars in the game i'd consider "medium" difficulty. The game goes from boringly easy to either cheat the system or lose every time.

Very boring game play if you ask me, the most fun I've had in this game was racing fast cars below the Extreme Hard Bosses so the race boiled down to both cars being almost the same speed as each other but the only way to win was by not committing a single mistake, first one to even slightly F*&^ up lost the race by a landslide.

I'm honestly confused by this. Which fast cars and below which "Extreme Hard Bosses"? I did have fun with Shuwa Shuwa Strong when tuning my car to specifically beat him at his own game rather than resorting to cheese. And I beat Cinderella easily in comparison.

I do agree the game is too easy most of the time, but I'm not sure if I agree with your other points. If you don't like cheese, then don't cheese. At the very least, I have fun by figuring out how not to cheese the game.

was he ever nerfed? I only beated him pre-"nerf" and haven't met him yet in my post-nerf new save.

I'm not sure if the 0.10.3 balance adjustments affected him, but they may have.
