How is online for mvc1 and mvc2?

I’m really considering playing these 2 games, I did hear most of the players who play online are very skilled, I assumed that because these games are on steam that the ability to play online will always be available as long as steam is around, how is online for these 2 games?

It functions fine. The issue is most of the playerbase is apparently on ps4 and there's no crossplay.
