MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics

MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics

A message to all KB users who want to purchase the game and CAPCOM
The the control options you get are extremely limited and PAD players get more options. There are no settings to allow you to map PPP, KKK, LP+LK, MP+MK, HP+HK buttons for KB so this makes many aspects of all of the games in the collection inconsistent. Without playing with these, after 30 minutes I'm getting hand cramps and dropping a bunch of combos. I can't wave dash, triangle jump, or quickly call assists consistently. Keyboard users need these options! They are literally available on every other Capcom Fighting game. While I don't use this, mapping 1 button specials is also not part of keyboard controls, so if you have a young kid who might want to jump in and have some casual fun, they are gonna get frustrated AF. My kid likes playing SF6 on Modern.

As a side note, there are issues with online matchmaking as well.

If you intend to play this game on Keyboard, I strongly recommend NOT purchasing the game atm.

Yeah just noticed that. I'm to try to leave a feedback at review, but that is a oversight from them.

The game is on PC. It should have appropriate KB controls just like every other fighting game out on PC. It's only common sense.

A hitbox isn't designed like a keyboard nor does it have the same layout, but that's a good try.

It depends on your layout on the KB.

If you use ASD for movement, Right arrow for Up (resting right thumb), and the numpad for all of your attacking buttons, it feels a hell of a lot like a hitbox with the added bonus of having access to 3 additional buttons, namely 7, 8, and 9 which are reserved for buttons like 3xP 3xK or anything else you want. This setup also frees your left thumb for space bar. If you are using a charge character using W is optimal for jumping since it forces you into neutral since down is S, this frees your right thumb on the right arrow key for something else. Your fingers aren't so spread out in this setup and its quite comfortable.

Keyboards have the flexibility of using whatever switches you like. Mechanical reds or silvers or analog keys feel great. If you have analog keys, you can set the depth at which they are activated and make it so that as soon as the key moves up, the key is reset. This enables mashing but its still no where near palming a stick.

Google Leshar's arcade stick if you haven't seen it.

Long story short, for a PC game it makes no sense to have a separate control menu options for keyboard and pad. Both should have the same options. How would you feel if you had a hitbox and you could only assign 6 of your 8 right hand buttons?

i'm going to assume you never had a look at a hitbox and a keyboard if you really believe this

It's funny, Capcom peaked with keyboard mapping with SF4 and SF x Tekken and it's been steadily downhill ever since. I have an arcade cabinet that runs through a keyboard interface and there doesn't seem to be a way to map controls for two players on this let alone have easily consistent mapping. It's unfortunate that Capcom has gone so far backward when there was a time when they'd let you map controls for both players to whatever button layout you chose. Tekken and King of Fighters are lightyears ahead of Capcom now in accessibility for this. At least I'll always have normal emulation and it'll work fine with my arcade sticks on my other setups, just disappointing it's so poorly implemented for a dedicated cabinet setup (which is admittedly an edge case, but an edge case handled much better by so many other games).

I really wanted to play marvel games through Capcom's software. After doing some research, apparently I might be able to use Steam Input to get macros but if I can't figure it out I'm going to research other possible methods and consider a refund.
