Online is unplayable

Bought this game to play with a friend over the internet, we set up a custom lobby and are trying to play, but all the games run at like 30 percent of their normal speed once they boot up. I dont know what is wrong or how to fix this, we've been adjusting settings and delay now for about an hour. The games run perfectly fine in the offline mode. Going to have to
refund this before I hit the 2 hour played mark if we cant figure something out here soon.

is it workign for u? only other thing i have is a switch and we all know how those are online

update steam, have it working but cant select the features for online gaming like secret characters etc..

I don't have it on switch yet but people have reported matchmaking works on switch / PS4 atm
