No. Confirmed on the game's website that the collection will not support crossplay. It's a shame, but it's not going to be the reason online dies if it does.

F. Then I guess I'll wait on the purchase to see if the MVC2 players migrate from you know where.

Dang it, these games need crossplay to remain alive! I have a friend that only has a Switch, but I'm only buying the Steam version, how are we supposed to compete? No way I'm getting a Switch, and my friend is too much of a bum to get Steam.

If you're waiting on people to migrate from you know where, I wouldn't get your hopes up. If the port is anything but a flawless copy of whatever they already play, they kinda get a little snobbish and start going "what was the point of this collection, just play it over here", forgetting how much of a...focused...community they are compared to the rest of the playerbase. A lot of people want to own a legal copy (hence why the arcade1up cab that cost several hundred dollars still sold out in no time flat), which is a foreign concept to those other people.

As far as why it doesn't have crossplay, I think their collections up until now historically haven't had and they're still slowly getting used to the concept. Plus, their crossplay games require Capcom ID, so it could be a technical reason behind the scenes as oppose to just being fickle.

yeah, that community is no hope. Flaw or no flaw, you ain't converting them. I mean it's whatever. The bigger picture here is that it exist and it also give a beacon of hope for a legit MVC4.

Buy a Switch, or get your bum friend their own Steam Deck. That's true friendship.

That sounds like being taken advantage of, the opposite of a good friend or true friendship.

sadly thats a nope, picking up the ps4 version then buying it on sale for PC when its like 20$. I am thinking about moving to PS5 for multiplayer since every PC player I come across in SF6 or any game in general hacks and ruin crossplay for everyone.
get ur friend a steam deck i second this idea

These games has never been dead and you know why, no matter the status of this port.

Yea but given that Capcom has worked with Tekken, Marvel, and SNK imagine if they made a cross over of every franchise. While that would be Epic AF, it probably would't happen as fighting game roasters be gettin smaller on launch since the good old days.
