MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics

MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics

Proper support for 4:3 screens this time, please.
All your collections don't work in 4:3 screens properly. They support the resolutions, but we get horizontal black bars top and bottom during menus(which is not a big deal actually) and black borders around all screen while in the games(which is the real big deal). It looks like crap when trying to make the game work in our custom cabinets, retro screens and etc.

Please fix this in this upcoming collection.

As a 4:3 Hitachi CRT owner, it's been hilarious buying these collections of games that have to be re-framed and boxed out of their intended aspect ratio. Then again, these collections specifically are not meant for old displays so I can't complain too much.

Capcom's emulation doesn't offer display mode switching that a CRT owner would expect because Capcom isn't targeting us and I don't mind. We have everything we need already with original hardware and robust emulation.

In case they do not implement this, you can use a workaround that I use here, which is using Lossless Scaling to increase the size of the image. It's better than nothing.

You will also need a DAC with high pixel clock if you play on pc and want to avoid potental 60 Hz headache. Almost every gpu made in the past 8 years has removed analog out. Personally, I set my CRT's refresh rate one or two integers higher than what the original System or ROM uses so I can have perfect framerates without the beam blowing out my eyeballs.

Nearly all display devices, whether CRT or flat, will let you zoom and crop to the gameplay window of these fighting game collections. Usually without artifacts or any functional differences whatsoever to native 4:3.

Unfortunately, I hit my display's zoom limit before I get the picture to the edges. Not a huge deal though, there's always fightcade if I really want to use my CRT for these games. At the end of the day, I'm happy with this. We're a niche of a niche to Capcom at this point, so there's no way they'll spend the time to add proper 4:3 support

buy lossless scaling, run in a window, crop to 4:3 aspect ratio, scale to full screen, voila welcome back to the last century.

This is infuriating that I can't use any of the Capcom Collections, which I paid for, on the 1up arcade cabinets I bought and modified and put PCs in. There is no good reason they couldn't allow us to turn off the stupid cabinet crap on the sides and run in a 4:3 aspect ratio. I bought the collection for Switch, and I want to buy it for PC. I own most of these games for Saturn or Dreamcast, and I would prefer use these apps instead of emulating, but they aren't leaving me a ton of choice. I plan to buy this for PC, but at this point I'll be waiting for a sale or for someone to update this thread telling me they've added 4:3 support.

They won't add it. They never did with any of their Collections. I think they intentionaly don't want people using these collections in arcade cabinets at this point. It makes no sense to have no real 4:3 support. I will wait for a 80% off or something too.

SNK ports are so much better in this matter...

The game has 4:3 support but it's hidden. Go to the game's .ini located in the game's folder and:

For a 4:3 LCD monitor

[DISPLAY]
Resolution=1600x1200
Aspect=4:3
RefreshRate=60.00Hz
ScreenMode=WINDOW
BorderlessWindowType=KEEPEASPECT
VSYNC=OFF

For a 4:3 CRT TV

[DISPLAY]
Resolution=640x480
Aspect=4:3
RefreshRate=60.00Hz
ScreenMode=WINDOW
BorderlessWindowType=KEEPEASPECT
VSYNC=ON

I play it in 4:3 on my Dell 2007FPB LCD monitor and my Sony Wega CRT TV.

Good to know, then. At least it has it, in a way. Thanks for the info!

Except most of these games aren't meant to run at 480i and will look incorrect. You'd want a 240p signal.

Awesome! You should write this in Guides page.
