Question about food consumption....

I am still rather early in the game, but I have to ask some questions about food and its consumption. What is food's purpose? How fast does the main character go through his food supply. And what does the player do when he is out of food?

The food is used to fill back your health when it has depleted. The rate of food use per health point depends on your difficulty level, but you should generally pick up all the food you can find, think of it as like health kits in other games.

Thanks for your advice!! Another question - if I run out of food, does my character die or do I just stop regenerating health?

The latter, health regeneration stops when you're out of food.

How do you pick food? It seems like the character eats everything he touches.

I guess its like in old ultimas. You have a storage of food. Number of days maybe or something in the character stats.

The character stores the food, and uses it up as you take damage.
