Is a controller ok for this game?
What are you playing with? Is a controller (xbox or similar) good enough to enjoy the game? As I understand it, it's a simulator....so I don't know, maybe steering with the sticks can be a bit tricky. The acceleration / braking with the triggers should be possible enough though.

What about a steering wheel? Is the game thought to play with a wheel? Is any forcefeedback well implemented? I wouldn't play with a wheel though because driving in 3rd person with a wheel seems wrong....and I think there is no cockpit view (would be also very hard to check the terrain from the cockpit....).

there isnt even official wheel support. afaik its really designed for mouse and keyboard, controller second but doable.
playing with a ps3 controller with better DS3 tools that emulate an wireless xbox controller, and it work like a charm :D i love it, but i must admit that they put effort to optimize the control using the keyboard and mouse, and i really like playing with them too :P but more often, im playing with an controlelr :P so yeah, an x360 controller will do the trick for you :D

(as stated above, wheel are in implementation actually, no official support yet ;) hehe )

PS4 controller is the best option I've found so far. I can play it just fine without having to use anything else and have been playing it on my TV from my couch. This is because the PS4's touchpad can be used for the times where a mouse is required (setting up Winch points). Just google DS4 Tool to find the driver and program to make Windows think its an XInput (360) controller + mouse and the game is already set up to take full advantage of a controller. Only thing missing is for some reason the Pull Winch control is not mapped to a controller button (even though it lists it in the controls settings for gamepad support, its just blank). I used XPadder to map the F key to Up on the D-pad to get around that (joy2key would likely also work).

I use a 360 controller and it works a lot better than mouse and keyboard for me. You will still need the mouse for some things like using the winch and navigating some of the menus though.

I've not owned this game long pal and wondered the same question.

I am finding using the keyboard and mouse fine, takes some getting used to but overall i'm doing ok with it.

If i'm honest this is not the type of game i would of ever thought of owning (usually a FPS man) but thought i'd give it a go!
Must admit, i'm pleasently surprised at it. It is a nice game to just...play!

At first I tried playing with keyboard and mouse and while it was ok, it felt a little cumbersome.

Playing with a PS3 controler it feels much better, specially camera control.

Thank you for the tips!

Oh well I didn't even think about keyboard and mouse....I hope they found out a way to steer and accelerate in a progressive way ? Sorry but I find it hard to believe that 'driving simulation + KB/M' is a combination that can work....but anyway both are good for me, problem was if a steering wheel was the best option (I am lazy to mount the wheel everytime on the desk).

Xbox 360 controller for windows works just fine for me, lacks winch button but think they will add that in.

well I thought being a 'driving' game (actually a simulator, I think they want to mean) some kind of analog steering / accelerating / breaking was a must. How do you do that with a keyboard? Did they think of some kind of system for this, like the old 'walk/run/sprint' of the first splinter cell (with the mouse wheel you could adjust the speed in many different little steps) ?

Steering wheel support as well as first person view may be added in a future update.
I've played both mouse+kb and 360 controller and much prefer the controller. There are still some times where mouse/kb works better but most of the time the controller does imo.
