Camera Improvement
Hi all,

After reading through comments about the camera, I thought i'd pin a thread for you all to see.

While we are very happy with the camera system, we are aware that it needs a little more work and we are looking to make the improvements for the first update. The camera system is very much like an AI system and the work put into is quite complex - with your opinions and feedback, we can make necessary improvements to ensure a smoother experience.

If you are using the gamepad - press left on the D-pad to give you a rear facing view

A "little" is a massive understatement, it is awful and should be top priority.

The camera is awesome, but I still can't use it carefully :D
Seems need addition of free roam camera or something like that (or like as unfollowed camera on tech demo), is helpful when do some crane or winch job.

I'll post my previous comment here to in case the other thread gets overlooked now.

The current camera has its uses, but it often feels too close to the truck. I'd like to be able to zoom out more. I'd also like an in-cabin (Track IR supporting) view as well as the traditional bonnet/hood mounted cameras for those times when you really need to see forwards.

I've noticed that when really close to buildings, the camera will give you a lovely top down view. It'd be nice to have that as an option when not near large obstacles too.

I can see what you guys where trying to achieve with the camera, but right now it can be very frustrating to use. The problem seems to be that your using the mouse to do many functions, zoom in, out, rotate and pan. All at the same time. The point at which I find the camera the most frustrating is when viewing down the left and right side of the vehicle. To move your viewpoint from one side to the other you have to overcompensate and then move back on yourself. The camera principles are spot on, but the camera should never be at a point where it doesn't provide a benefit. I would recommend going through the whole spectrum of angles that the camera provides and make sure everyone one of them the possabilities is providing something useful. As currently 70% of the angles are useful, but 30% are not.

I have called my camera operator 'Derpina' (the female of derp) due to the fact that she is mostly useful, but bloody aweful when she gets it wrong.

While I understand how to manipulate the camera, a larger range of motion would be nice, and a further comment. STOP MOVING MY CAMERA WHEM IM IN A LUMBER YARD!!
I get the camer all setup so I can see the trailer and get it positioned, and then every time I stop the menu pops up - moving my camera!
This makes loading up that extra bit tricky. With all the mug and some very tight yards, we dont need to be fighting the camera too.

Personally I feel the camera can wait until some of the other more game breaking bugs are ironed out - such as the crash to desktop issue and the chat 'window' (can we add a scroll feature to that please, so i can real the last line or 3 of a convo?)

I think you should just add a couple extra camera options, a hood camera would be nice and a free camera that can either center on the truck or move freely in addition to the current camera would be great.

I love the camera, but I agree I think that some extra fixed view cameras around the vehicle would be cool to get a better idea of where and why I am stuck ;)

I think just the "problem" is that we ALL are very unused to such cameras, I have never played a game before which the camera movement works like that

Still, look into peoples different suggestions about cam movement

I do like how the camera follows the truck on one side. But conventional camera controls, where the camera remains fixed on the truck but can be rotated around it (like in most other games with vehicles and an external view) would be more practical, and to be honest, much less frustrating to use. A selection of different camera views, in addition to the current one, would be nice. The camera views on offer in Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a good example.

The more I play, the more I get used to the camera. I can appreciate what it does. It certainly gives you a great view in those tight spots where you need to see what every wheel is doing individually. However, it creates a lot of trouble for me when I need to see what's directly in front of the vehicle, especially when loaded. I would like to be able to zoom out farther and keep the camera there. As soon as I steer the front wheels with the left stick on X360 controller, moves the camera back in.

Look at how the camera works in Train Simulator 2014, that would be perfict for this game.

Suggestions
#1 allow the camera to go to exact center "at the moment it will not its 1 side or the other".

#2 allow the camera to zoom out farther or add some kind of screen in screen to help keep track of the truck following you in MP or towing

#3 stop the game from switching cams on its own "this is a big issue for me" when i back up or start the crane and all the sudden im looking at the ground or a tree"

#4 need more angles you have 4 cam points that i can find atm left forward right forward trailer and crane although they are dynamic and you can move them somtimes they are just not in the right spot these would be helpfull (hood rear bumper high chase)

Thank s for the great game i have about 40 hours in already and still having a ball
A crane seat camera POV. So when you are operating the crane it will give you the max imersion.
